This simplistic memorial is five rifles under which is kept the eternal flame guarded by two soldiers. The rifles symbolize the five years of war 1941-1945. Nearby, five large plaques present a scene representing each year. A brief changing of the guards ceremony is held at the top of the hour (24 hours a day). The ceremony is characterized by goose-stepping (with an extended leg). It is a moving tribute to fallen soldiers and a constant reminder of the price of war.
