Huge metropolitan city squares with impressive buildings and a lot of green areas. A lot of walking to do.

“Grand architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Between our hotel check out time of 11.00am and our evening flight to Munich, we'd decided to spend the time in between to explore the Lower Town.

We started from the Jelacic Sqaure and covered the area on foot, passing the Strossmayer Square, Tomislav Square, train station, National Archives etc. The Lower Town has the grandeur distinguishable by its imposing architecture and wide roads compared to the Upper Town. There are many museums, art galleries, theatre, grand parks and gardens to visit in the Lower Town, not forgetting of course cafes to rest your feet and for the all important toilet break ;))

It was an enjoyable way to experience Zagreb and the weather was not too cold, in fact very comfortable.

“Gorgeous and easy to enjoy walking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Between worldly acclaimed neighbors Vienna & Budapest, Zagreb is completely underrated. It was a nice surprise to discover beautiful buildings, large peaceful green parks, many museums and very good restaurants. Lower town has majesty, Upper town is cute, a great combination.

“Great vibes”

The lower town (especially the main streets) has a cool vibe and atmosphere, with lots of cafes and shops to sit and relax. Zagreb really is a great destination :)
