“Perfect environment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

Nice and relaxing walk away from crowded and touristic places in center, refreshing. Not only the park, but also surroundings (way down walking tram line 5 til TRG) for knowing real Zagreb cafe bars, and people.

“Beautiful park and surprisingly good zoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Went to Zagreb zoo and the park for something to do as a family with 2 kids ages 4 and 5.

The park itself is beautiful with lots of playgrounds, monuments, cafes and buildings. The zoo was particularly good - well kept with a real variety of animals to see. The standard of care was very high and the animals looked reasonably happy (in comparison to Split zoo, where they look suicidal). It was quite quiet so you got to take you time and get a good look at the animals (unlike chaotic places like London zoo).

The layout and quirkiness of some of the enclosures kept the kids interested and there was building work going on with some new enclosures on the way. The snake house was the most interesting bit, followed by the rainforest section, though don't go through that bit if you have a hangover as it's full of all types of creepy crawlies and smells pretty ripe.

If you're into football, the entrance to the park is opposite the Maksimir Stadium where Dinamo Zagreb and the Croatian national team play.

“Nice, But Not A Knockout”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

This was a nice, large park near the center of Zagreb. There are lots of tall, old trees and a few lakes. There is an absence of colorful flowers though. The ponds have lots of ducks swimming around and a few egrets. We saw lots of turtles too. Large walkways and smaller paths crisscross the park. There is a large parking lot next to the soccer stadium right across from the street. The tram stops in front too. It was our first day in Croatia and we didn't have much small change so we could only park 1 hour. That meant skipping the zoo. This is a nice park and nature preserve. But it's not like it blows your socks off by any means. As mentioned above, there's a noticeable absence of color and the maintenance didn't look like it was top-notch. Maybe because it's free and they lack funds. It you have extra time, then it's a place to visit, but not something to go out of your way for or make a top priority.

“A lovely park with a large lake and zoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

This is a very attractive park on the outskirts of Zagreb. There is also a zoo, with a good variety of animals, but which is in need of modernisation.
