The Arcotel is great. Maybe the best stay we had among the nine we visited in this particular trip. It is very close to the train station and I strongly suggest you be careful with the Zagreb's taxi drivers since we were charged in 10 euros for a 2 minute ride, which could be easily done by walking. Total rip off!
But everything got better when we arrived at the Arcotel. The staff was very nice and warm, the place is tastefully well decorated and the room couldn't be more cozy. The two green apples as a gift when you arrive at the room everyday is definetly the cherry on the top of the cake, and proves my theory that it doesen't take too much to make a tourist feel welcome and safe.
The breakfast kept up with the good impressions the other days with a variety of delicious options.
Congratulations on the Zagreb Arcotel Allegra, and thanks to the other tripadvisors whose reviews convinced us to stay there.

We stayed here 21 to 23 February with a good deal through last minute dot com
Hotel conveniently placed for train and bus stations both ca. 10 minutes, in different directions. There's a smoky shopping centre with multiscreen cinema adjacent ; plenty of cafes and pizza places but no quality food. It's around 1km to the old centre of town where you can find excellent snack food around the market.
We had good food at the Asia about 300m from the hotel and the Pavilyon around 500m.

All the descriptions you'll read elsewhere are accurate.
Negative points:
We returned to our room on the 22 to find bed not made and room not cleaned at nearly 15:00. When we contacted reception it was dealt with.
Extensive choice at breakfast but "hot" food only luke warm.
Provision of lifts inadequate; we waited literally 10 minutes at ca. 8:25 on the Friday (23/02) morning for a free lift - using the stairs was not an option as we had heavy cases.
Reception check out was also overwhelmed at this time

I spent two nights at this hotel on a business trip in Zagreb. The hotel is very nice. The rooms were interesting, large, newly renovated, spacious and clean. Nice amenities in the bathroom and robes/slippers (we stayed on the Executive Floor). There is a nice bar on the first floor which has good atmosphere for a drink and tasty food. There are also computers in the lobby which are free to use. By staying on the executive floor, you are provided with a great newspaper delivery service which provides exact copies of the actual papers from all over the world. We were able to get same day's New York Times to read over breakfast. Nice touch! The only negative to the hotel is that it's around 15 minute walk to the exact center of Zagreb. There are hotels closer but this one does have good parking and access to the train and trams and highways. It's located in the same building as a multiplex which is nice if you want to catch a movie during your stay.

Bought a weekend package flying from London (Luton) with air tickets & Arcotel from Friday - Sunday.

The package included breakfast, which turned out to be quite enjoyable food-wise with a wide variety of options fitting a five-star hotel. This was paralleled by a very enjoyable and reasonably-priced restaurant meal.

The room (no. 426) was a good size for the two of us, the beds very firm and comfortable, the room very quiet - especially considering the live band in the ground floor bar on Saturday night (didn't hear a thing), and the shower firm and hot. Room service prompt and friendly, as were all the staff from the receptionist to the cleaners.

There are two free broadband internet terminals on the ground floor, in the bar area opposite the reception desk.

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the charming old-town area. Turn left out of the front door, opposite the big rail station building turn right up the grassed area (past the 'Man on the Horse') and keep walking. Eventually you'll get to the main square with another man on a horse(!) typical of this part of the world.

The airport taxi cost 250 Kuna (about GBP 25.00)

This was our first time (due to personal circumstances, probably the only time) in Zagreb but have no hesitation in recomending to other travelers.
