“A grand hotel that lives up to its legacy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

This beautiful palace was built to accomodate travelers of the legendary Orient Express that passed through Zagreb and it's located right next to the city's main train station. Ever since, this hotel was one of the best in this region. Recently I had the opportunity to stay overnight beacuse of some business conference. I have to say that it lives up to its reputation. The service was impeccable, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the bed was ok, not as comfortable as a Westin bed, but it served it's purpose well. The breakfast was fantastic, and although I didn't eat at Le Bistro restaurant on this occasion, thanks to previous experience, I would recomend it for the great ratio between prices and the quality of the food. The location of the hotel is very good, close to a nice park, and 5 to 10 minutes walk to the center of town. It's also interesting to know that this hotel is a frequent meeting place for Zagreb's top artists, writers and intellectuals for the past few decades. My stay at this impressive palace was short but very pleasant and I would certainly recommend this hotel to everyone wishing a classy, relaxed and luxurious accomodation in Zagreb.

Room Tip: If you want to have any view, you will need to pay for a delux room.

This is a five star hotel that lived up to it reputation. The room was comfortable, the bed firm and comfortable, the service excellent. The bistro restaurant was a good value. The Zinfandel restaurant is better skipped. Expensive with moderately good food.

Stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip and we loved it! Staff was welcoming and got us right into our room despite our early arrival. Room was spacious, clean and pretty. The lobby, hotel bar and restaurant were beautiful! Concierge was helpful with recommendations and directions. Thanks for a great stay!

The pictures on the walls and furniture bring memories from times of the Orient Express (1925 on). Huge room and bathroom, very nice stay. Very kind staff and well located.
I will hardly forget this pleasant moment at this charming hotel.

We arrived late in the evening and right away felt welcomed n helped by the staff. They guided us to the downtown area and it was less then a ten minute pleasantly scenic walk to the resturants, malls n some of the historical landmarks. Our room was spaciously comfortable and my husband loves this firm king size bed. Bathroom is spacious and ample closet space. This is one first night.

Room Tip: Ask for good view facing historical landmarks n kind size bed.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights and then another night passing through Zagreb. From the moment we arrived until we left our experience was just wonderful. The staff were unobtrusive and yet there for assistance that may be required. Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed with all the products of a five star establishment. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. We did have laundry done and it was returned within four hours and beautifully pressed. Each afternoon we had drinks in the bar lounge and we must give a special mention of Srecko Soh who was always happy and ready for a chat. He was a great barman and suggested we try the 'Strukli' and it was wonderful. I wish we had had time for another dish of it. The dining room also had an excellent choice of food and great wine. Thank you to everyone who made out stay so memorable. I cannot speak highly enough about the hotel. Highly recommended

This hotel would have gotten an excellent review, everything was great with the exception of one thing, the room when you walk in smells like old pipes. I will write to the hotel to let them know of this issue, this was the only thing wrong with this hotel. Everything else was great, good room, nice size bathroom, comfortable pillows. Concierge was great with dinner recommendations and walks.
Hotel is centrally located, valet car service and wifi in rooms and lobby. Nice hotel.
