“Great Stay!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

My wife and I stayed here for just one night before we flew out. The hotel is in a great location, just 5 minutes from the airport 15 minutes to old town. Free parking, free internet (wifi) and a wonderful free breakfast. The hotel is clean and comfortable.

We arrived in Zagreb around 1:00 pm and our flight was the next day. The staff had free maps and handouts that helped us tour the old town on our own. The staff was very helpful and giving advise on things to see and places that would be good to skip. Also, there was a shopping center about 5 minutes away, a great place to pickup some small gifts/chocolate before you fly out.

All in all I would recommend this hotel. As I said we were going to fly out so we purposely got close to the airport, if you are staying for a few days you might want to look closer to town, otherwise it is a great hotel.

Room Tip: We just got a standard room (King Bed) and it was wonderful.

We stayed here as we had an early flight. Convenient to the airport. Basic room, clean, well appointed. Wifi was strong. The only downside is no restaurant, but you can order food in. Has a nice bar for drinks which is open all day. Staff spoke good English and were very nice.

We chose this hotel for the start and finish of our holiday due to its close proximity to the airport. We arrived in the early hours of the morning at the start of our holiday and was impressed that they gave us ground floor rooms so as not to disturb other guests. The nights at the end of our holiday were on higher floors and were actually a better spec. Nice rooms and good wifi.

Reception staff were helpful with booking restaurants, taxis and a trip in the city. They were pleasant and friendly.

Breakfast was nothing special and was pretty basic but without problem.

TAXI FROM AIRPORT
nothing to do with the hotel but beware when taking a taxi from the airport: The driver was very pleasant and chatty, giving us advice on places to go etc. he charged us 171 kuna, we gave him 200 as he didn't have change. Being 1am and very tired we thought this normal. Going back to the airport next morning we had a taxi called by the hotel and it cost 35 kuna! We later discovered that it is against the law to charge and not give a printed receipt that is linked to the tax system. Lesson learned.

This was booked by our travel agent as part of our driving holiday. Very easy to get to from the airport by car and when we arrived although a bit austere looking on the outside we were pleased by everything on the inside. Helpful staff, nice little gym and on the bus route to the city if needed.

I don't mean to sound like a crazy ranting reviewer. This will be my first negative review on TripAdvisor and is typically not my style. But, I also work in the hotel industry and have done a good deal of traveling and I have never experienced such rude service. My husband and I (like other reviewers) were looking for a comfortable simple property before we flew out of Zagreb for a 22 hour travel day the next day. When we checked in to the property and got to the room- the room was boiling at 28C (82F). Unfortunatly, there is NO WAY TO ADJUST THE AIR, in the room. The front desk controls this. That's fine... we can appreciate the efficiency. We checked in at 1:00 pm and despite 4 trips to the front desk regarding the temperature in the room, the room only made it to 27C. By then, the time was 10:00 pm and we had to get to bed and had to get a comfortable night's sleep. The desk agents told us several times that they would adjust the temperature and repeatedly said that there was nothing wrong. After another half hour sweating in the room, we decided to leave the property and figure something else out. The night man apologized.

Here's where the REAL trouble begins. After finding another hotel with working a/c, my husband realized he left his wedding ring (we were on our honeymoon) in the room. When he called, he was told that the ring would not be returned without 100% payment for the room and refused to let us out of our stay despite our awful experience. Like I mentioned, we are both in hotels and would never treat a guest this way with a negative experience at one of our properties. When we left the room we generously tipped housekeeping and had barely touched anything in the room... yet, the manager still made us pay 100%. He essentially made us pay a RANSOM!

When we returned in the morning to get the ring, the man who checked us in (I believe his name is Nikola Moic; the same employee who neglected to take a credit card when we arrived) was extraordinarily rude and insulting despite the fact that we were there to pay. If you want a good night's stay in Zagreb, I would suggest planning on a 15 minute drive and splurge for the Double Tree. It's really not worth the savings and location to stay here. We will be reporting our experience to Best Western too, even though the property is independently owned and operated.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on the last evening of our Croatia trip, because we wanted to be close to the airport. It is a comfortable hotel, with your typical Best Western breakfast. Wi-Fi worked fine. It's about 10 miles from the city center.

I chose this hotel based on price and proximity to the airport. Watch out or taxi scams from the airport. Keep your eye on the meter as my cabby jumped the fare up numerous times on the digital fare display. Of course this in unrelated to the hotel but a heads up.

The bed consisted of a light weight foam mattress which was surprisingly comfortable. The room was very basic with a small wooden table. The bathroom was clean and modern but the shower very small. The hotel had an arrangement to order a pizza from a menu that you must eat in the lobby as they won't allow you to bring it to your room because of complaints of other guests in the past I was advised. The hotel is located in a residential area about a 10 minute walk from a grocery store but not much else. Breakfast wasn't well organized or refreshed and the quality was poor. Hotel is an ok option if you have a rental car but otherwise transport can be a burden. Staff was friendly.
