“Elegant and stylish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

First time visiting Sofia, I was so lucky I chose that hotel! Everything looks like magazine photos! The decoration is great, the service is very good and the stuff is really very polite. But the best part of all is the roof garden where you can drink your coffee watching all the city from above! Totally recommend it!

Stepping into the main lobby you can already feel the stylish and exquisite ambiance of the hotel.
The rooftop bar impresses first of all by the scenic view on Nevsky cathedral. The terrace is well designed, live DJ plays an unobtrusive chill-out music. It's a lovely place for a romantic drink or a small intimate celebration.

This was a real gem of a hotel to find. Only a few months old yet staff and systems working faultlessly. Nice (cool, chic, funky) reception and bar, great roof bar with stunning views and cool south-of-France vibe. Plus very unusual stainless pool with sauna, steam room, spa and small but very well equipped gym.

Location is good too, right side of city for airport and 10-15 minute walk to Vitosha Boulevard and other shopping areas.

I loved staying here, as you can tell. Bed was big and comfy with real air conditioning and lots of nice touches in the room - Moulton brown toiletries, big walk in shower, Iilly coffee machine, quality linen and towels. Real wood floor and even the door had a leather coating and was padded!

Only downside is the drinks and food is a little high, but quality and service superb so I think this can be forgiven. If you can get a good rate - stay here.
PS: Oh yes, breakfast is great too - freshly squeeze orange, bottomless coffee and lots of choice at the buffet. Also, room had big screen TV but did not use, and free good-quality Wifi that I did!

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are quietest but front rooms have view of Cathedral. Search the hotel booking...

My girlfriend and I booked a table at the Sense rooftop bar to experience the excellent views of Sofia, enjoy a professionally prepared cocktail and enjoy the city for all its vibrancy. The landscape is spectacular and the design of the bar allows for several interrupted view of Sofia. Weather permitting, the roof is pulled back and you get a real summer experience with the night breeze pulling a cool draft through the bar. Unfortunately, the merits of the Sense rooftop bar end here.
The night began when a waiter grunted at us to see what we wanted to order and sulked away when we asked for a few more minutes to decide. The drinks we ordered (Manhattan and Cosmopolitan) were fine, but a superior menu, with a greater quality of preparation and more competitively priced editions of the same drinks can be found at One More Bar or Karkason just a short walk away. After I finished the Manhattan a different waiter managed to drag himself away from a group of teenage socialites drinking champagne and collect my glass. If I was in need of a second average, overpriced mixer in a martini glass, it was not offered. I managed to eventually order a bottle of water. After a twenty minute wait, it was decided that if left to the waiter’s devices, I would be at low risk of dehydration. And so we left, still in search of a 5-star drink and a well serviced bar.
This bar is probably superb if you are the offspring of wealthy businessman or local crime figure who is willing to spend hundreds of leva on magnums of champagne and have attentive bar staff at your disposal. It is not ideal if you are just looking to have a few cocktails or glasses of wine with your friends or partner. It’s a real shame because the poor, unprofessional service completely negated the excellent décor of the bar and its calm and relaxed atmosphere.

I stayed at the Sense hotel for a few night, and really enjoyed the luxurious feel of the place, and the room. It had very comfortable beds, and everything was really clean. Its a very trendy place, in an amazing location! I was close to all the main attractions by foot, and there are great restaurants in the area too.
The best part of staying there is by far the SENSE ROOFTOP BAR!
It has a breathtaking view of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and has a very cool and relaxed vibe. The staff was really nice and professional when I was there. I was skeptical because of some poor reviews, but I stayed there mainly because of the location. And I must say I was extremely satisfied with my experience there overall.

In my opinion this is the best situated hotel in the city. Next to the parliament, to the biggest cathedral on the Balkan peninsula - St. Alexander Nevski. On foot you are 5 minutes away from the most interesting places. Very good spa and for me the highlight is the Rooftop bar. This is the bar with best view of the city. The lady, who's in charge, dos fantastic job. You need a reservation, so don't forget to reserve a table. Enjoy the terace.

The rooms are great, pick one with view at the cathedral if you can, you deserve it:) Nice paintings on the wall...

The best place to be in the center of the city!

Room Tip: The rooms are great, pick one with view at the cathedral if you can, you deserve it:) Nice paintings...

Stayed there a couple of weeks ago. First impression is that the owners. architects and interior designers really wanted to introduce a new concept in town. To start with location is excellent, can't be better neither for business nor for tourist visits to the city.

Staff is trying to be nice but very confused, seems they don't belong there or just not much experience although I have to admit all of them spoke good english. Anyway, check in efficient but a bit cold. The bell boy who was also a porter and concierge (perhaps at the very moment) was very imformative and nice but no smile.

Anyway, took us to the delux rooms which was really nice with a beautiful view. Room is definitely not overstuffed but just sufficiently equipped with high techs. Bathroom good size but here started the flaws. Supposed to be all clea details and then you have four ugly bolts holding the shower panel - what were the designers thinking?! Got out of the room and started noticing the poor finishing work.

Went downstairs to have a coffee at the lobby, really beautiful cafe, liked it and when I asked for the menu - no menu in english. Basic items they were wondering where to get them from and said sorry, we have just opened.

Anyway, food at the restaurant was good and no complaint about the service, other than the fact the waiters were gathering at the bar, laughing and acting like they have a party and everytime I ask for something they make me a favour.

Wanted to go their roof top bar, was not on the guest list, hence not allowed, although in any hotel, unless there's aprivate party hotel guests always have priority to the f&b facilities.

Anyway, put my name on the list for the next night and went upstairs. Indeed breath taking view of the Church and Sofia at night, liked it. And so much for the good experience. Same mess with the service. Very slow, incompetent, small selection of drinks, badly made cocktails at a premium price. When time came to pay the bill I had to wait for 30 minutes and when I started complaining they started looking me back with long faces.

Funniest thing is when I wanted to check out I asked for the contacts of the sales manager so my company can sign a corporate contract and we can have our staff staying at this hotel when they come to Sofia, they said they don't have the coordinates of the Sales director.

I really hope they can fix the service and these flaws because it's a great property and will be a shame to have it ruined with bad attitude and mangerial problems.

Room Tip: Ask for deluxe room with a view to the church
