Description: In 1856, James Murphy in partnership with four of his brothers founded the J.J.Murphy & Co. Brewery in Cork, Ireland.Since then his name has been associated with only the highest quality for his world famous Murphy’s Irish Stout, Red Beer and J.J. Murphy & Co. Irish Bars. In 1998 J.J.Murphys Irish Pub was founded in Sofia, Bulgaria.J.J. Murphy’s is the first authentic Irish Pub in Bulgaria. If you like the Irish atmosphere and food, there is no need for you to travel all the way to Ireland. Here you can try the traditional Irish Stew, Shepherds Pie and Beef Steak. Also on draught at J.J. Murphy’s are Kilkenny, Guinness, Carslebrg, Heineken, Stella Artois and Krombacher. During the summer you can enjoy an ice cold pint in the beer garden, with some great BBQ food.On the big screen televisions we show all main sport events from football to rugby, american football and many other sports. Every Friday and Saturday night you can enjoy live music ( Jazz, Pop, Rock, Irish and Bulgarian Music).Through the years J.J. Murphy’s proved to be the best Irish Pub in the country. The excellent reputation is brought by the nice warm atmosphere, the quality of food and brilliant service.

“GAA”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

This claims to be an Irish pub showing all GAA games, but when I went there to watch the Leinster Hurling Final on 6th July they didn't have it and I was told they only show the All Ireland Finals if the owner decides to order it as it's on a PPV channel.

Hi there, sorry but we have never claimed that we show the GAA Games and have never had the channel which broadcasts the games as there is not any interest by most of the customers,

Thanks

“Different pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

It's different, it's perfect place to have a beer. Food is ok with beer but don't expect excellency. If you are football fan that's the place for you when there's a game.

“THE Irish pub in Sofia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

Perfect place for a guinness and ribs, big screens with sports.
Very friendly staff, a rare place where you can talk to your neighbour..and becoming friends.
Can be loud some days, like in a real pub

“The Irish side of life”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

Once you enter, you lose the feeling of being in Bulgaria- it's a miracle that such places exist in Sofia. When it comes to Irish food, try Shamus' Shepherd's Pie, The Original Fish and Chips and The Leprechaun Burger. As a whole, pay a visit- it would be a different experience during your stay in Sofia for sure!

“A tourist rip off trap”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

Beware people, as soon as the bar staff realise you are not Bulgarian the shady practices come into play.
2 beers? 7 lev. Price list says 5 lev.

Waitresses decide you don't need change from a 20 lev note even though the bill is 12 lev.
Best advive?
Avoid.
