Bulgarians reputation of been "meat lovers" its limited to pork and chicken. Beef lovers are bound for a big disappointment if they are hoping to catch a decent piece of beef in Sofia. With the usual exceptions, that will be a challenge and an expensive one. The same applies for a decent burger...other than McDonalds, very little else its available. So you will understand my joy when, by chance, I came across Concept Restaurant and, again by chance, I opted for the "Concept Burger". Perhaps was the hunger, perhaps was the "nostalgia" but, in any case, its was fantastic. Tasty, juicy, real beef. 200 grams of it. Cooked on a brandy sauce, comes with sauteed onions and mushrooms, bacon, pickles and topped with lettuce and tomato. I real treat. And really expensive as well....15 levas?...which its about 7,5 euros?..not sure if I would pay for it back home but over here, as far as I am concerned, was worth it. The choice is yours but I will go back again to get it. Nonetheless, there are some issues that could be annoying...for instance...while ketchup and mustard comes along in cute small containers, mayonnaise its not available. Not just that day. Its never available because, according to staff, the owner does not buy mayonnaise. Another "thingy"?...well..no cheese either. I would've loved a "cheeseburger" but...no cheese either available. Why?...well...go figure. We also tried the chips with guacamole, decently priced but nothing more than a bag of Doritos and canned guacamole dip. But makes the trick. Try also the "Pasta with Grilled cheese"...its very good....however you will be warned by staff that its a "cold dish"...so, my question is then,...how the heck the grill the cheese??...in any case, the resulting cheese sauce its very good, fresh and tasty. The chicken "wrap" needs a little more care though. Taste was a little dull. Draft beer its surprisingly cheap but, in the other hand, a glass of Bulgarian wine, inexplicably, 2 euros. This is one of the Bulgarian things that I am still trying to understand. Even though the average house wine its correct and decent its generally overpriced compared to other more reputable and high quality wines from Europe. Service its friendly and quick. Prices, overall, even the contrasts aforementioned, rank in the medium-high bracket. The restaurant setting, decor its "fashionable" chic but cozy and well done. Atmosphere is warm and inviting with a carefully selected background music.
