Came back quite quickly to the Radisson after my last visit only to be immediately pounced on by the manager and more-or-less forced to pay the room upgrade for my last stay which I had noticed at the time that they hadn't charged but which fact I had put down to them being nice because they had failed with my airport pick-up. Can't complain, but it removed my previous good feelings about their customer service.
As a 'compensation' I was given - that is to say my paid-for upgrade for this visit was allocated to - the 'best' junior suite. An hilariously hideous modern sub-Blofeldian parlour opposite the lifts, this might have been designed by and appeal to a Bulgarian gangster who once read Wallpaper magazine and half-remembered the worst bits. It took half-an-hour to be moved to a calm, traditional junior suite along the corridor. Incidentally, who are the ?military ?media types who constantly occupy one or more of these suites, intermittently lounging on the corridor sofas? Sinister.
The room was lovely; all was well there but the hot water continued to fluctuate and the temporary breakfast arrangement was still gloomy to the point of troglodytic; the food lukewarm. Hopefully the move back to the permanent restaurant will improve matters.
I will go again because I like the location and the old-style suites but unless it bucks up it will be the last time.
