“Interesting experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Interesting hotel.
I guess four stars in Bulgaria are something completely different than in the rest of the world, because this would be a 2+ or a 3- hotel anywhere else.
The rooms are clean, but look like they are form the Soviet era. I was just waiting to see Stalin coming out from one of the rooms.
Towels were clean but with holes in them. Mini bar was empty and plugged out.
The view was nice.
Breakfast was ok, but not more than that. It is a buffet style, but you don't have a lot to choose from.
There is a piano bar on the roof and a casino in the lobby.
Upon arrival there was no hot water and the pool was closed for the entire stay.
If you sit in the lobby for some time, you will see a lot of interesting people passing by.

Awful hotel! Torn carpet, dangerus wires out of the wall over the head, no working light bulb in the room main chandelier, towels with stains, not disinfected toilet, bundle of hair under the pillow, ugly postcards, currency exchange odd working hours, poor brekfast - can it get any worse? Bulgarian 4**** rating!!! Disgusting!

I stayed there during a business trip in December 2012 and no sleep all night because of the cockroach in the fist room and in the 2 nd room the same cockroach bigger for this time. In the 3rd room freezing like in antarctica.at 03:00 in the morning i change the room again but only a little bit better. No free WiFi, old-fashioned curtains and carpets. The furniture in the bedroom and bathroom are old. Not an Ex - communist hotel ,still a communist hotel.

Never again!

A very unique hotel in the middle of Sofia. It has a great piano bar and also a night club as well as a casino (though I was refused entry for wearing my kilt!).

Nice enough hotel by Eastern European standards, with at least a few things to keep you occupied at night if you don't wish to wander around Sofia at night.

Hotel was nice and very centrally located near the city center. Spa was nice and meals were ok.

An old-style concrete monolith from the Communist era but clean and well kept and run. Generally dark interior decor, with modest breakfast. Plenty facilities including leisure centre, casino and bars/cafe/restaurants. Overall well run and still good value at an advertised price of 70 Euro per night.

Contrary to some previous reviews I found this hotel more than acceptable.
Multi story large ex-Soviet block but helpful staff and clean room. I had been allocated a "de-luxe" twin for single occupancy and found many four star amenities, mini-bar, good size en-suite bathroom etc.
Large buffet breakfast of adequate items with large multi place tables.
