“Felt very welcome in Sarajevo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

i would recommend this hotel. Very friendly. Suite was not luxurious but felt like coming home after a long day. Very comfortable and clean. Nice location - felt safe and it was quiet at night. Only downside was that it was an uphill climb. Then again, all of Sarajevo seems to be an uphill climb.

Loved the city and the people and the hotel.

Room Tip: Go for the apartment.

A very warm welcome from the staff starts you in a somewhat shambolic hotel with unconventional design accentuated with antique furniture and other decorations from Ottoman era. It is located right near the old town and the staff is helpful about guiding you. Breakfast is ok though.

A wonderful welcome in a hotel a ten minute walk from the old city of Sarajevo - safe and clean. pillows could have been more comfortable and breakfast could have varied the way they cook eggs. Interesting place and the staff were very helpful - great place to stay if you are in Sarajevo.
Traditional hotel with an international clientele - these people were in the middle of a war 16 years ago - 10 out of 10 for trying so hard.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony

This really is a wonderful hotel- lovely, cool and interestingly-furnished. We stayed here for 3 nights in room 4.1 at the start of our holiday in the western Balkans. It’s in a quite area but not far from the centre- although up a steep hill. The room is enormous with a huge comfy bed but the glass roof of the room was unwelcome and resulted in restless sleep (it rained heavily while we were there). The bathroom is in contrast with the room- quite poky and with a shower curtain determined to cling to you like a second skin. There’s plenty of room to have had a bigger bathroom to suit the room. Breakfast was in a large beautifully-decorated room but was disappointing- the only choice of anything cooked is a flat omelette, the orange juice tasted reconstituted and the yoghurt was tart. Reception staff spoke English well and were very helpful- gave good restaurant recommendations- but were chain smokers.

Room Tip: Room 4.1 is lovely but not if it's raining- the glass roof makes for a restless night's slee...

We booked a weekend trip to Sarajevo in Summer 2011.

At our appearence we were pleseantly met with an upgrade of our double room to a two bedroom suite that we adored! The hotel is special because it has an old traditional bosnian style to it of a higher class, furnished with antiques. The front desk staff were very helpful with the information and easy going. The breakfast was adequate, could have been better. The hotel was in a central location about a 5 minute walk to Bascarsija (the old town). It is best to prearrange a parking spot because they are scarce in the area, although when we arrived they were able to secure a spot for us. If you are looking for a spa, gym, or pool this may not the place to go, but if you want to expierence the elegance and soul of old town Sarajevo there is no better hotel in the area! Here you can find peace and tranquility amidst the bustling of downtown. We would gladly stay here again.

We stayed at Hotel Michele for one night and found it to be a great place to stay. The hotel was really quiet (we arrived the day the film festival ended), as was the area around it. We were greeted by a very friendly man who gave us good suggestions of places to visit and restaurants. The room was a good size, although it did smell of cigarette smoke. The bathroom was clean and large, but oddly, there was no shower curtain or door, which just ensured that the floor got a bit wet when we showered. We both slept well on a comfortable bed. There's car parking on the street in front of the hotel. Breakfast was good - a selection of breads, meats, cheeses, cereals and yoghurts, as well as a hot option (omelettes - which we had and were very good). Overall, a very nice stay.

This hotel is a great place to be close to downtown Sarajevo yet stay in a quiet neighborhood. The staff is accomodating, friendly, and will answer any question. The rooms are tastefully decorated and a great change from chain hotels. The town is a ten minute walk away, with local supermarkets even closer. Well worth a visit!
