“Nice restaurant and affordable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

A small restaurant in the middle of city. most of the table located in the upper floor which divided into 3 small rooms. Atmosphere is very nice and cosy. All dishes in the menu looks simple but tasty, we also looked around in other tables and everything looked inviting. We ordered chicken with cream made of cheese with small salad and fries and it was delicious. The service was nice and fast and the total check bill was surprisingly low so I would mostly recommend this place if you look for nice cheap restaurant for dinner.

“Tasty Bargain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

We had one night in Sarajevo and discovered Chipas on a side street near the Cathedral in the Bascarija area. The place was packed with what appeared to be mostly locals, generally a good sign. Customers filled the outside area, the inside area downstairs, AND the three or so rooms upstairs. The decor was pleasing, sort of contemporary country parlour. Our waiter told us that 'Chipas' is an amalgamation of 'Chicken' and 'Pasta', which explained the many chicken and pasta items on the menu. But there are salads and dessert crepes and a few other things available as well. My husband is a vegetarian and had the pasta with a mushroom sauce, which turned out to be a healthy portion and was very tasty. I had grilled chicken pieces in a four-cheese sauce that came with other items including cole slaw. It was all absolutely delicious, one of the tastier meals I'd had in two weeks of traveling. Neither of us had expected such flavor in a sort of fast food venue. And the price was incredibly reasonable at (I think) about 4.50 BAM per meal, maybe less. Our waiter spoke good English and was very proficient despite the mad rush of customers he was dealing with. After our experience we could understand why Chipas was so popular. If you're looking for a tasty meal (especially if you like chicken and/or pasta) at a very good price and you are NOT looking for an exclusive, private evening, Chipas is well worth a try.
