“GOOD THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We stopped off in Pocitelj after our visit to Kravice Falls which was a short 20 minute drive. On our arrival, we thought this small delicate town was completely correct to be a UNESCO site, although you can miss the turn if your not concentrating on the road properly. 40 degrees weather made it crazy, but crazy is as crazy does! The old town is complete with cobbled stones and steps leading to the top, which on route you will see a mosque, citadel and castle. Also spectacular views of the Neretva river can be seen.
We spent 2 hours here, so that we could feel the peace that seems to be treasured here, even though people are still living in the old town. Good things come in small packages is an understatement. Pocitelj is pure beauty and we have not even 1 negative thing to say about it. Many picturesque images can be taken from Pocitelj, just make sure you understand what its all about before you get back in your car and leave...

“Beauty and peace outside Mostar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Pocitelj is about twenty or twenty-five kilometres south of Mostar, and is a popular place for people wanting peace and relaxation from the stress of the city.

It's an extraordinarily beautiful town on a hill, with ancient stone houses, winding alley-ways, and an ancient mosque (restored, but unostentatiously) near the top, with a shady tree next to it.

The people seemed extraordinarily friendly.

There's a cool-looking river down below, by which it might be possible to have a picnic.

On the way back to Mostar, you can stop at Žitomislići, another peaceful, beautiful spot, with a wonderful monastery.

I'd rather live in either of these than in Mostar itself.

“Turkish Old Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

This little town is protected and restorated as original. I really fascinated about a mosque and panorama of castle. You can find original tea-house and some suvenirs to buy.It is best place to take photographs in Bosnia.

“Beautiful medeival / ottoman town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2011

We ran across this town without knowing anything about it on a road trip through Bosnia. Počitelj is an incredibly beautiful little old town perched on the side of the Neretva river. There are a variety of old cobblestone streets to explore, some representative Ottoman buildings, mosques, and an old citadel that has panoramic views across the valley bottom. If you are in the vicinity of Mostar or Dubrovnik, it is well worth spending a couple of hours wandering around this town.

“POCITELJ - beautiful old stone town , the UNESCO heritage site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2010

Počitelj , a stone town, is located in the western part of Bosnia Herzegovina, soon after crossing the border from Croatia , some 20km from the city of Mostar. The beauty of the town is in its amazing architecture – a mix of Dalmatian and Mediterranean even it was built during Turkish governance. The whole town is actually leaning toward the Neretva River and it is a nice introduction to the eastern influences on the territory; from the road you can observe all its beauty. The elegant minaret of Sisman Ibrahim Pasha Mosque was restored as well as the old Madrasa. Nowadays, this little town hosts the artist colony. You can have a beautiful rest in a very unique historical setting, while you enjoy a coffee or pack of fruits sold by the local lady. Absolute must before going to Mostar!
