“Nice day trip from Tirana!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We were unfortunate enough to have some heavy rain, so we couldn't explore outside as much as we would have liked, but the castle is charming, great tourist attraction. The restaurants and shops just outside add a little something extra to the trip too

“Skenderbeg Castle, Albania.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

This castle is situated high in the mountains, an hour or so drive from Tirana. Nearby are fascinating stalls and shops selling all manner of souvenirs. A well preserved dwelling dating from 1749 gives the visitor a valuable insight into Albanian life and history. The curator is a mine of knowledge and certainly brought the exhibits to life.
The modern "castle" features the life and times of the great hero, Skanderbeg. Not to be missed!

“What a fun day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Loved the museums. Had a fantastic lunch on a patio overlooking the countryside. Shopped and bargained and bought some beautiful items. Just didn't have enough time. On a future visit I would love to stay a night in a local hotel. If you go, wear good walking shoes - cobblestones can be treacherous.

“I born here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

The castle of Kruja is situated about 600 m on level of see, and have a lafge view from Lezha ,Preza & Petrela ( the other small castle with same age)This casetle is nowed as a castle of Skenderbeu ( Gjegj Kastrioti ) national hero of Albania. This kastle is about 700 yeras old wile the town is founded 100 yaers before Castle.
Kruja town is nowed as a town for his old pazar , a pazar as bigest as Kruja himself.

In the castel the visitors can visit the old church near the clock tower ,the mosque and masjid. Also the visitors can see the the old hamam one heritage from otoman ocupation, and the most interting objekct are the two museums :Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeu& ethnografic Muse.
They are very functional and are full with the story's element from the Iliric period until our days.

I hope & wish yoy to visit Kruja.

“Amazing Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

The museum is awesome, with very "sexy" wall paintings and friezes of amazing battle scenes, as well as period furniture, documents and various implements, all displayed so well they could be displaying cabbages and it would look good. The castle itself is world-class as far as castles go, although not nearly as huge as the one in Berat, some miles south of Tirana. Kruje is also the place for souvenirs, bar none, in Albania. Eat at the restaurant - good food and a killer view.
