Stayed here for one night with family in September and had a very enjoyanle stay. It is excellently located on Skanderbeg Square in the heart of Tirana. Our rooms were on the 9th floor and had excellent views across this bustling square and the city centre. We just arrived in Tirana and with little or no idea of where we were going to stay we happened to spot this place first and popped in to see if they had availability, which they did. We parked our car in a secure car park with round-the-clock security. The reception is bright, spacious and modern. Check-in was efficient and the staff friendly. We had a drink in the Lobby Bar prior to going to our rooms. The bar looked out onto Skanderbeg Square with plenty of people watching opportunities and there was free WiFi access. The bar service was efficient and friendly. In addition, the Albanian soccer team was staying in the hotel prior to their match against Sweden which certainly added to the buzzing atmosphere.
Our rooms were modern, bright and clean with all the usual accessories one finds in 4-star accommodation. The best thing about the room, however, was the view down onto Skanderbeg Square - it is fascinating to watch cars, trucks, bicycles and pedestrians navigate the square and, despite the apparent chaos, we did not witness any crashes!!!
The hotel is within walking distance of most of Tirana's major sites and sports stadiums as well as a vast array of bars, cafes and restaurants. The city centre was bustling with families out walking, older people gathered to chat with friends in the city's numerous parks and the bars and cafes were full of hip and stylish young Albanians. There was a great ambiance on the streets and we certainly felt very safe wandering around the streets and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.
We did not dine in the hotel's restaurant. However, we had cocktails in its La Pergola bar on the 2nd floor which also has wonderful views over Skanderbeg Square and, once again, the service was efficient and friendly. Breakfast also happened to be in La Pergola and it really is one of the best breakfast locations I have dined in with great views on the terrace across the square and bustling Tirana. The breakfast buffet was comprehensive and tasty.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Tirana - the hotel was also built as a showcase in 1979 and apparently hosted many Polit Bureau meetings in its time and reportedly has underground tunnels that were built to aid the escape of members of the former regime in case of attack so you get a bit of history there as well!!!
