“Great place to relax in the heart of a brilliant city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2015

I stayed at Hostel Albania for four nights with friends, and it is the ideal place to come back and chill out after a day in the busy city.

The staff were very helpful, providing a map and explanation of how to get to all the various bus stops (there is no central bus station in Tirana).

The dorm was a good size, clean, and had enough space for bag storage (bring your own padlock). There was also plenty of space to hang out - a garden, balcony, dining room and good sized kitchen. This meant there was space to chill on your own, or meet other guests. Bathrooms were fine as well. We cooked one night, and there was plenty of room to do so.

Breakfast was included in the price, making it extremely good value.

The hostel is located about 10 minutes from Skanderbeg Square, so you can't fault the location either. I'd recommend printing off a map when you first visit, as the entrance to the hostel is a bit tricky to find. We wandered back and forth a few times before we found it.

All in all, Albania is well worth a visit, and Hostel Albania a great place to stay. I plan to go back.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper I would request a room that doesn't look out over the garden, as y...

Usually I don't like hostels, but being alone in the country's capital on a weekend, I wanted to try and find some people to hang out with in Tirana.

Initially, the place doesn't quite feel anything special, you need to look at the pics here to be able to find it, as the gate looks exactly the same as the other houses nearby.

Once you get in, the very nice staff and especially the owner make you feel welcome. The owner really goes the extra mile. For a non-pet-lover like me, the dog looks scary at first but I didn't feel so intimidated. It was nice that I could park my rental car nearby. The breakfast has CHEESE, which is very rare on hostel breakfasts!

I slept like a baby and rested easy during the day, because my belongings were safe in their huge lockers under the beds (make sure you bring a good lock). After a freezing night elsewhere in Albania, I was glad to sleep warm, as they have heaters (many accommodations in Albania don't). CONGRATULATIONS HOSTEL ALBANIA, THANKS!!

Great hostel, just a short walk from the market and a few minutes from the centre of Tirana. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The sort of place where everyone talks to each other no matter where in the world they are from. Good dorm rooms, well equipped kitchen and a lounge with TV. Draught beer available - it was popular but I didn't see anyone drunk or being silly with it.
On the downside, there appeared to be only two toilet/shower rooms - could take a while to get into in the morning - and the hostel wasn't full during our stay.
This might not be the best hostel in Albania, but it's definitely in the top two.

Room Tip: Bring a torch in case of power cuts. Plenty of great bars/cafes near the market. If buying things...

Great hostel, been in a lot of hostels in Europe and this is definitely one of the best. Great rooms, clean, very relaxed and nice atmosphere, location fine and staff is nice and sometimes go out with guests for a dinner or have a bbq at the hostel. There were also free yoga lessons. The old villa is a great building. But the best part is the big garden where is enough shadow to chill out, including a bar for beers and good music on.

Room Tip: When it is very hot in summer, go for the basement room. Much cooler then the other rooms, which are...

I am glad to say that my favourite hostel has not changed! The same friendly hosts, the same charming atmosphere, the same low prices!
I recommend this hostel because of its great location, considerable prices and attractive feel.

Lets star for the good things.
We just left yesterday the hostel, we were there only 2 nights. The first impresiion was nice, the map helped us a lot how to find the place, when we entry nice yard and a really nice breakfast.

BUT! the staff no helpfull at all you had to take the information asking everything.

The dog was there all the time, love dogs but not when you have to eat on the table.
we had the basement rooms. Be careful if you have this one... when you entry there's a red light like a really bad disco place.. doesnt let you sleep cause is thw whole day on, is really creepy and also the smell is aweful, like humedity, cause is a basement never has light only1 small window, doesnt help at all. You will hate it as we did. And the corners full of dust and web spiders. Without mention termites inside the lit/beds... you can hear by night how this beat the wood and if you touch the area sounds like empty. So no doubts, must be termites.

Hi Militza,
thank you for your review. We always try to make it as nice and comfortable as possible for our guests. As you wrote our outside area is huge and peaceful, the breakfast we serve is fresh and healthy. She-Ra the dog is only a few hours per day in the hostel, and it seems you like her too. But for your impression on the room situation we have to apologize, if you experienced the room that bad. The room is mentioned in the Lonely Planet as ''the coolest dorm in Tirana'' because it is half underground and always fresh and cool in the hot Tirana summer. Outside we have 40 and inside that dorm always 20 degrees. Your right it is not the most bright room ever seen, but there are two medium sized windows and every bed has a reading light.
But we don't have termites, the rooms above have wooden floors and of course you hear some noise if someone above moves and if you spotted a spider net i am sorry. Generally our Hostel is very clean...:)
Sorry for your experience...hope you will be back one day to give us the chance to convince you that not everything you wrote is how it usually is.

Top spot. great night tour with dinner. Plenty of space to chill. Atmosphere is on the money too. It's a great place to get a feel for Tirana, both the city and the people. Breakfast is a winner as well.

Room Tip: Get in there.
