My husband and I stayed at Taaroa Lodge for two nights before embarking on a cruise. We stayed in one of the bungalows and could not have been more happy with the place, especially given the rate. The bungalow had a bed, a sofa, a microwave, a small fridge, a coffee maker, and a small bathroom. We spent quite a bit of time just sitting out on the bungalow's lanai enjoying the view and relaxing. The Ritz it was not--no air conditioning, but with the ceiling fan we stayed plenty cool at night and with the ocean breeze and a lagoon to swim in, we stayed plenty cool during the day.
We also were able to walk up the road a little ways to a park that had a restaurant--another nice spot for a glass of wine and watching the sunset. There is also a burger shack right next to the lodge's driveway, and a little market up the street.
The other folks staying at the lodge were a nice couple from the Netherlands who were just starting a 3-month vacation across the South Pacific, which made for great conversation. The owner, Ralph, was also a really nice guy and he talked to us a bit about surfing. Booking with him was pretty easy and he was great about responding to e-mails.
Every morning a baguette would appear on our lanai, and there were always fresh bananas hanging from the trees for us to much on, and plenty of supplies to make coffee. That and a great view and your loved one, what more could you need? My husband and I agreed that if we ever make it back to Tahiti, we'll go back there to stay again.
