“Quite okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

We stayed in the hotel for 1 night on our way to Bora-Bora. The hotel is situated in Tamanu, approx. 20 minutes' drive from the airport.Taxi costs at night XPF 3600, in the morning XPF 2800.
We arrived at the hotel at 10:30 pm. The reception asked for a voucher which we did not have as we booked online prepaid. Even when we presented a printout of their email confirmation he looked skeptical and made a copy. We had booked a room with panorama-ocean view and got an upgrade to an overwater bungalow. After our flight from Auckland we were hungry and were told to go as quickly as possible to the bar, as they would close at 11 pm sharp, where we could choose from a very short list among a few cold dishes. Room service was not available although offered for 24 hours in the general hotel information. We waited 10 minutes for our sandwiches, put them on a tray and together with our luggage we were driven by electro car to the bungalow.
Every window of the bungalow was closed. We kept the light on in the toilet as otherwise it is completely dark. The bed is big and comfortable. The room is nice. The balcony a bit small. The door to the balcony sticks. In general the resort is a bit dated but well-kept and clean with a nice pool and garden.
The breakfast buffet was good.
At checking out there was again the problem that they obviously have no information about our prepaid booking. Although they should have somewhere the copy from last night, they make another one of their own e-mail confirmation and after further 5 minutes we finally could check out.

The hotel and surrounds are slightly dated, but still in good condition.

A nice pool and access to the beach is always a plus.

Rooms are quiet an clean with OK wireless connection (extra cost)

Not a fan off the breakfast buffett as most of the food was very over-cooked. So option 2 get an omlette which was excellent.

The trip in Papeete central was costly via taxi and the hotel offers no shuttle buses. It was around $25-$40 USD each way depending on the time (day or evening rates)

Tahiti is so naturally beautiful that any nice hotel with a huge pool and lovely garden would have to be wonderful and Le Meridien is no exception. The grounds are just knock-out gorgeous with flowers, palms, grassy areas and places to relax in the shade. I give this aspect of the hotel a full 5. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are nice too with big bathrooms, balconies, and attractive decor. Food facilities were slightly problematic, however. Strange hours and very expensive -- dinner with 2 drinks (one was a beer), tip and tax for two cost us 10,910 XPF ($118.77). On early arrival our rooms weren't available so they offered us a "transit room" but when we opened the door we found a couple in the bed and others sleeping on the floor -- no thanks! So we just stowed our luggage until 2 p.m. when we could check in. The location for us was very convenient since we wanted to visit the Museum of Tahiti and her Islands, a very short walk. However, it is a 2500 XPF cab ride to downtown Papeete so if you'd rather be where that action is, be advised that Le Meridien is out in Tamanu.

Room Tip: Don't think there are any "bad" rooms there -- all face the ocean and have an amazing...

A nice, fairly small hotel with a beautiful beach. We stayed in both the hotel side and in overwater bungalows; the room was very nice but the bungalow was great! The hotel and beach staff were quite nice. We enjoyed the variety of water activities in the beautiful lagoon - the kayaking and snorkelling were spectacular. I have mixed reviews for the restaurants, as some meals were excellent while others were only okay.

Stayed for a week in a Deluxe Lagoon View Room. The resort was stunning, with lovely gardens and a sand pool and a great beach to sit on. The balcony off the room was great allowing a view of the layout of the resort gardens and the ocean. The rooms were tidy well laid out, nice design and the bathroom nice and spacious. The resort staff were very friendly and helpful. It was nice being close to stores in the area including a pharmacy, pub, bakery (with great French baking), pizzeria allowing for experiences immediately outside the resort. Would be happy to stay there again and recommend the resort to others.

We arrived late, as do most people from the mainland, and were pleased to find attentive and friendly staff upon check-in. The room was nicely but sparsely furnished. The property is gorgeous--beautiful views, nice sand-bottom lagoon pool and good choice of restaurants. We were particularly impressed with the concierges, who went our of their way to be helpful with rental car arrangements, cabs and tours. The food was very pricey, not uncommon in Tahitian resorts, so it was definitely worth it to have a rental car and explore the town.

We loved this resort!! Le Meridien Tahiti has a perfect setting, on a sandy beach with a breathtaking view and some of the prettiest sunsets we've ever seen. The room was beautiful, with a large, super comfortable bed; spacious bathroom with jacuzzi tub, separate shower and toilet; refrigerator and great views. The sand-bottom swimming pool was a treat, and snorkel equipment and kayaks are free to use. The staff were all friendly and greeted us every time with a smile - for them, just looking out at that view all day long would make anyone smile! A few minor negatives, but nothing large enough to take away our high rating. Wifi is expensive (I unfortunately needed to stay connected due to an ill family member). There are two free computers in the lobby, but they either weren't working or were being used by other guests, so they were difficult to access. The barking dogs and crowing roosters at night were a nuisance - it would be nice if the hotel could patrol the lot to shoo out the dogs.

If you don't want to eat at the hotel, right next door to the hotel is a little Italian restaurant for finer dining, and a hamburger/pizza place that's fun and welcoming. A slightly further walk brings you to a grocery store and a shop with great baguette sandwiches.
