we went on an average day for waves and it was fun. I saw it before when it was big and it was really cool! on a flat water day, don't even bother.
we did that on the same trip as going to see the water falls next door.
We went on a stormy day, so the blowhole was in full action. It's neat to see, but not as impressive as I thought it would be.
it was a highlight of a day trip around the island the spot is amazing with the black sand and the surrounding view we met few of the locals surfing there and they have a lot of fun. we enjoyed the spot very much especially our teenagers.
Trou du Souffleur is a blowhole near a lovely black sand beach. It's different from other blowholes that I've seen, as instead of shooting a wide geyser of water it was shooting a narrow and focused jet of mist. It was a nice place to stop on one of our drives around the island of Tahiti-Nui.
There are four blowholes - three on the cliff face at the end of the viewing area and one above the old coast road. Its a beautiful scenic spot, close to the other main nature attraction - the three waterfalls and both are completely free. We hired a car for two days and stopped here twice - 4 year old was mesmerised for over 20 minutes just watching the sea surge onto the rocks and then the blowholes blow. We were there on a public holiday and it was nice to get out of the resorts and see the locals out surfing and picnicing and feel like seeing some of the real Tahiti.
