“Nice Property, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

We stayed in a Junior Suite for one night before heading to the other islands. The hotel was nice. Lobby was clean and had good free wifi. We arrived in the evening and other guests have complained about it being dark and they are correct. We had to use our flashlight app to see the signs on how to get to our room. The hotel really need to add lighting in the corridor/hallways outside the rooms.
The inside of the room was nice and spacious. There was a bed and roll away bed downstairs and upstairs a nice king size bedroom and huge bathroom. This unit even had a kitchen.
The best part of this room was the balcony, it had great views. My only complaint was there was only 1 mirror in this room, they need to add a couple more at least in the downstairs bathroom. No issue with any noise from the streets, just rooster in the morning, which you will hear everywhere you go.
This hotel was walking distance to the municipal market and to the ferry, both about 1/3 of mile away.

I stayed in a Junior Suite (street side) for two nights, theres no doubt the room was lovely, quite luxurious. I read other reviews about the noise, I was dreading this but actually I found it ok. Not that bad! A few loud motorcycles and yes, quite a few ambulance sirens but it didnt seem that loud or annoying, perhaps as I was on the 4th floor? I found it difficult as there was no bellboy to help transport your luggage or show you where your room is (which was a little difficult in the dark!). When checking out I had to make two trips down the elevator (with my baby on my hip) haha. I wish there had been a knife or a can opener in our room and a broom too (my son threw his biscuits around the room...eek). Overall not bad, I would stay again.
Reception staff were lovely too.

Room Tip: Dont choose a street side room if you are looking for peace and tranquility

We stayed in the Hotel Tahiti Nui for 3 days during our holidays in Tahiti. The hotel is centrally located with easy walking access to the central market, the ferry terminal and a number of good restaurants. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff were courteous and helpful. It offered free internet access, but only in hte lobby, not available in the rooms.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quieter. The junior suite is good for a small family

We spent one night and one - early - morning at Hotel Tahiti Nui, and that's about all you need to see Pape'ete. Great location, affordable price, spacious rooms with tasteful decor, delicious breakfast and a nice pool open 24/7. The hotel has a kinda weird dark ambience - very little light on the floors - but that's a detail. Or else bring a flash light. Wi-fi FOC only in the lobby.

Room Tip: Don't spend extra money on special views - it ain't worth it.

We stay just one night after a cruise with Princess.
Pros:Two bedroom suite was very spacious, had a kitchen to cook ramen or something easy and for breakfast cereal. beds were comfy and staff was very friendly...helped us with a electrical adapter and directions around town.
Cons: very steep stairs to the bedrooms, No shower curtains, so big mess and really dark!!! Very little cookware & ants. Not as easy to get to as it looks from the pier...you need to walk/ drag your bags on very uneven pavement, through outdoor cafes and trying to cross the road with bags and kids...scary
Over all...yes I would recommend this hotel as long as you know what you are in for...probably not great for an extended stay

Room Tip: high room floor on the side... not front

One of the few options for staying within walking distance of the centrum. But the rooms, though spacious and attractive, were poorly designed - particularly the bathrooms, which are probably the worst-designed we have ever experienced. Horrible lighting, shower sprays onto the floor because no curtain or barrier, and more. The breakfast was extremely expensive and of mediocre quality for the price.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip to Tahiti/Moorea in May. Although we could have stayed at a resort we quite like feeling like we are part of a city when we are staying in one rather than feeling more isolated out of town. The hotel was very close to the rest of Papeete including the waterfront and the ferry terminal and also the Avis rental car depot where we collected a car from for a day trip around Tahiti.

We enjoyed our stay.We had a lovely big room with a balcony over the very busy road the hotel is situated on. Our room was north facing so it got a lot of sun which was good. Very strangely we quite enoy watching traffic and what is going on so we really enjoyed our balcony and suspect it was more interesting than some of othe other rooms looking over the neighbouring buildings ie there are some rooms that I think look over the service station next door which - while probably quieter - does not have the same appeal to us. There were also rooms looking over the pool to the east but they probably did not get the same amount of sun that our room got. The downside of course, is that the room was quite noisy at night time. Although I think the windows were double glazed it did not seem to be working quite right. But that is only a minor comment - it was not unbearable and if you like watching traffic!! then I suspect you are always going to get noise.

I suspect we might have stayed in the same room as Asinvari as we were on the fourth floor as well and there was also a crack in the wall of our toilet!

It was also slightly odd that while we had a lovely big kitchen with a sink and plenty of cupboards there was nothing else in the cupboards other than a couple of cups and a jug. I guess they are not self-contained units - more a standard room that happens to have a kitchen area. There was also a good sized fridge though which was good.

The swimming pool was good I thought although I suspect it might lose the sun quite early if you like sunbathing. I enjoyed it and there were several loungers and a small gym.

We had breakfast included which was quite good. I have to say the breakfast area is quite dimly lit with no windows to speak of so it is a little bit gloomy for a breakfast area. However I understand electricity is very expensive in Tahiti so maybe the hotel is trying to conserve power which is admirable. That might be why the lighting in the corridors is a bit dim too. We even tried to get into the wrong room on the floor below not realising we were on the wrong floor!

There is a petrol station right next door which seemed to have a good supply of things you might need so that is useful as well.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful with nothing being a bother. All in all we enjoyed our time here and we were pleased we spent time in Papeete itself and also taking a drive around the island in the car we rented.
