This is a great location before a cruise. Next to a convenience mart for small meals or snacks. Close to Farmer's Market and small mall. Able to walk to docks for your ship (if you have limited luggage). We were there on Sat. and "caught" a Tahitian show @ the tourist center and a Marquesas show @ Farmer's market after walking thru a small mall to see Pere Noel (Tahitian Santa) and Xmas decorations. Ask for a city map and walk the small sidestreets and down to the wharf to watch the yachts. Traffic always stops for you to cross streets. Girls @ desk were very pleasant. Rooms were spacious. Even pool aerobics offered, but in French). Would definitely stay here if only a few days in Papeete.

My friend and I got into Tahiti very late and simply needed a place to sleep before we left in the morning to get onto our cruise ship. The a/c didn't seem to work, but we just left the sliding glass door to the balcony open and a fresh breeze blew in all night. We were able to walk to our ship from the hotel, as it was only a few blocks from where the ships dock. We didn't use the pool and didn't use the breakfast option, which cost extra. We both got a nice rest and got rid of our jet lag. We started our cruise refreshed and clean. The shower was fun.

Stayed at Tahiti Nui for two nights in October 2012. Booked a Junior Suite in June 2012 as part of a round the world trip. Hotel Tahiti Nui was booked because it seemed to have a convenient location for a stay in Papeete, and because it looked new, with spacious rooms and balconies.
Arrived in the morning from one of the outer islands and was told the suite would be ready about one o’clock, and that we could leave our luggage in a locked room until then. The suite consisted of two large rooms, one with couches, dining table and kitchen, the other with a very large bed and en suite facilities. The rooms were very modern, well kept and very inviting, with large windows and a balcony with a view of the city and in the distance the sea and Moorea. The only thing not up to standard was an overdesigned bathroom. It was impossible to use the shower without spoiling a lot of water on the floor, even though one tried to stem the flow with large towels. Staff in the reception area was very friendly and helpful in getting an early and very precise taxi to the airport. And Internet worked as promised in the very large reception area. Would stay there again, and can only recommend booking a junior suite.

With only twelve hours between leaving cruise ship and late night flights to mainland, Hotel Tahiti Nui fills the bill with modern rooms, a nice pool and a very palatable French restaurant. Just four blocks from the port and a short stroll from the market, it saves an expensive taxi ride down the coast to beachfront hotels that only offer late day check-in. The helpful staff let all four family members share one apartment, stored our bags while we went to the market and let us check in at 11AM.
