We booked the tour directly with Arnaud via email. He was prompt in replying and we had several email exchanges before our arrival. Originally we had booked a group of 8 people for a half-day morning tour to the interior to see the waterfalls. Other friends also wanted to do the tour so he offered an afternoon tour for them.
We arrived via cruise ship and he met us on the pier by the ship. We had no difficulty finding him. The vehicle had seatbelts in the back on the benches. Depending on where you sat they could be difficult to fasten. Also a note for anyone with mobility issues: The step up into the back is fairly high.
We drove for about 30 minutes to reach the crater area. The high ridges are impressive. The rainy season was just beginning, so many of the waterfalls had dried up and others were only flowing moderately. You could still see the marks on the rocks where waterfalls do occur during the rainy season. One of the highlights was driving across the river.
We made several stops and had the opportunity to swim in the river, but no one chose to do so.
Arnaud spoke very good English and offered good information about what we were seeing. The last stop of the tour was at an overlook where we could see a panoramic view of Papeete.
It was an enjoyable tour and I would recommend Arnaud.
