5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2009

So you see some mixed reviews on the food here and that almost changed my mind but we went anyway and just returned 30th July. I am so glad we did we had an awesome week here and will go back. Maybe because we had a Beachfront King room which gave us almost private access to the beach which was only 20m away...so we didnt even need to leave the room as we had a patio and nice sun lounges and just walk over to the beach for a swim.

We have a 2yr old so we wanted a mix of family holiday, some romance and also an island feel rather than a resort and I must say this place delivered on all counts. We didnt want to leave.

The food....my werdict..its not that bad. Its inline with any other resort in Fiji but remember this resort has only been open since June 1st (ie 8 weeks) so there is some improvement to go but really we couldnt fault it other than the buffet in Sanasana was a bit expensive but the deserts were good and there were a couple of places to get a resonable coffee (if you order it strong). One tip though....my wife got the Wayagu beef burger and I ordered the kids cheeseburger as I wasnt feeling hungry...net result...same size burger, almost the same taste and the kiddies burger was FJ$15 vs the other which was FJ$35. I know what I prefer. They also have a reasonable little shop there but if you want some better breaky options take some cereal and buy some milk - easy.

I have stayed in many hundreds of resorts as I travel ALOT for business and for an 8 week open this is a great effort. we paid the extra on the room and were treated very very well....plus there is only about 20 of these beach front king rooms so they are nice. We even enquired about extending and the hotel graciously offered to extend the rate we got from Hotels.com and they didnt have to do this at all. When we called the porters, they came straight away. Room service was prompt, additional things for the room were done quickly. Cot..ordered it on check in and it was in the room by the time we got in.

Family pool - huge and excellent for toddlers and slightly older....adults infinity pool was supposed to be for adults only but the kids were well behaved and quiet so nobody had an issue. Kids club is $25 per day but if you send you child with a nanny you dont pay..nannies are available from FJ$8 per hour. We got private car transfers (ie Toyota Tarago for FJ$70 each way). His name is Nemani and mobile is [--]. His car is clean, not old and he is absolutely reliable.

Comments about being charged for snorkels etc - i mean that is par for the course and every resort in the world does that. Just unrealistic. If you want to see what being charged is really liked then go and stay in the Four Seasons Maui (OMG)and that is US$1200 per night for a average room. I am amazed at some of the reviews on this website ie Baby seats in taxis in Fiji??? they just dont exist - get over it. Its just an immature traveller that expects their own home in their back pocket.

Anyway you cant please all of the people all of the time and we are reasonably fussy and we loved it so.
