Stunning resort!

We have stayed at another top Fiji resort a few years back which we rated highly, but the Intercontinental was simply superior. The resort has a grown up and sophisticated feel, while still being very accommodating and welcoming to families and little ones.

The beach at the Coral Coast was gorgeous! - crystal clear waters, fine coral sand, and the reef is right there on your doorstep. Take snorkelling gear as you don't need to book a boat to reach the reef.

And at the risk of sounding snobbish - less bogans at the Intercontinental.

Service is quicker than the usual 'Fiji time'.

Although the main bar lacked appeal (it just didn't have a lot of ambience despite great live music), the outdoor areas were welcoming and the beachside Bures were the best place to spend the day by the beach.

All the services, food, activities and prices were comparable to any other resort although the Intercontinental is quite isolated.

The resort course is the most beautiful and challenging we have ever played! It's enormous and meticulously maintained.

The only 'fault' I could find is that bedside lighting was incorrectly placed on the ceiling above, rather at bed side and was only accessible on one side of the bed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an outdoor Cleopatra bath

Despite of few glitches when making the booking (done on Fiji time), my family and I were quite impressed with the well-kept environment and the room of the resort. Even for international branded names, it is difficult to find a real 5-star resort in Fiji or the Pacific region (very apparent when compared with resorts in SE Asia). I think Intercontinental Fiji meets the minimum international standards.

First, the room did not smell moldy. Furnitures and hardwares are probably imported. Even the internet facility is Docomo system from Japan. The theater system is Bose. The power socket, switches, door nobs, dimmers, aircon - everything worked perfectly as they should (very RARE even in the so-called 5-star resorts in the Pacific). We loved the Cleopatra bathtub.

The family and the adult pools were both great and serve their different purposes. Even during high season there are enough deck chairs for everyone. We also tried snorkeling and fishing - the staffs were friendly and my family enjoyed them all.

Dining is the biggest challenge in most resorts in Fiji. Most places provide heaps of food, but only fast food (hamburgers, pizzas, steak, pasta) probably because most of the guests are from the region and less demanding. Although we usually stay away from the buffets, we tried the seafood and found that it was the best quality dining we've had after living in Fiji for almost a year. Considering the poor variety of food items in Fiji, they have done well in delivering international standard quality food. Breakfast had good variety with non-western selection - we don't enjoy consuming dry (heaps of toast), fatty (beacon, ham, etc.), sweet (baked beans, danish) dishes in the morning.

For service, the staffs are trained well (and not just nice). Most are friendly and helpful. I was bit bothered by security asking, "Are you just visiting or checking in?" every time we are in the main building area. I guess it's unavoidable for good security, but definitely not pleasant.

The price overall is expensive, especially for food, water activities, room fare because you can get much better quality in SE Asian resorts for almost half the price. However, living in the Pacific, I am happy to pay a little extra to stay here.

Room Tip: If you are going with kids and want easy access to the pool or the beach rooms on 1F recommended. Fo...

I have worked in the travel industry so I have been to many hotels around the place and this one is by far one of the best. Excellent service and great facilities.
Yes you can spend a bit but if that does not matter than its not an issue.
However you can do this still on a good price.
Tips- if you have a driver taking you to he hotel ask them to stop at the shops and pick up some alcohol and snacks.
If your playing golf, take your own clubs and balls as they are expensive there.
All in all though unbelieveable!! We are fed going back :)

My husband & i stayed here along with my dad for a holiday & our 3yr wedding anniversary from the 29th of Mar til 3rd of Apr.From the moment we arrived we felt extremely welcome. The staff at this resort are just amazing.Leilani in Navo restaurant & the Toba Bar boys, especially Ilia, are just the best but everyone there is always happy to help & will go out of their way to make sure u have what u need. The food is great. We ate at all the bars/restaurants and enjoyed all of them. There are activities throughout the day & fijian ceremonies in the evenings which we just loved. It is also a great place to stay if you have children as they involve them in alot of activities.

If you are planning a holiday to Fiji we highly recommend you stay at Intercon. It does cost a little extra compared to a few other places but it is well worth it - u wont be disappointed.

We do have one frustrating issue though that is still yet to be rectified even after sending several emails & that is the authorization on my credit card still hasnt been released & we checked out 4 days ago but apart from that we had a fabulous time.

We will definitely be back :)

We stayed in a lagoon view suite in Feb/March for our wedding. The resort itself is amazing and everywhere you look it is just simply beautiful. This resort is truly worth every last cent. I have stayed at other resorts and also checked out most of them for our wedding and can honestly say, no other resort comes close, this place is in a league of its own.

I would recommend this resort to anyone if you want a relaxing holiday. If you want to do a lot of day trips, i would recommend staying in Denarau instead as the Intercontinental is really isolated.

Rooms: Our room was large with a separate seating area which came in handy when we had friends over for drinks. The bed was comfy and the our Fiji toiletries were divine. The outdoor bath was simply the best, you have to use it!!

Food: Buffet breakfast was good, and had a pretty big range that caters for most people. The Toba Grill was the main place we ate at for dinner as it had the biggest range and was the cheapest. We ate at Navo on the cabana as part of our wedding package, this was one of the best dinners we have ever had! The food was amazing & came with matching wines. The whole experience was simply the best, the food, service and view, would definately recommend if you are with your partner.

Pool/Beach: The adults only infinity pool was so amazing, it was peaceful, warm and had a great view. The beach & lagoon were amazing as well, the water is just soo warm you could stay in there all day.

Spa: We did a couples experience that was included in our wedding package, again this was amazing, the spa itself is so peaceful & tranquil, form the moment you walk in you relax. our treatment went for 2.5 hrs and we both said it was the best we have ever experienced.

Our wedding was amazing, everything came together beautifully and although it did rain, the watercourt was still as beautiful as the beach would have been. the entertainment was out of this world. We will truly remember our special day and this truly special resort.

We cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: Lagoon view or Ocean View are quieter and have a great view.

Just back from a week at the Intercon. Overall was a fantastic week. Far more positives than negatives. We always use this site to decide on our hotel choices so i will review this hotel with both the good & bad but please note, i do not want to be putting this hotel down because it was lovely but there were certainly a few points you may like to know when considering this hotel.

We were told by hotel staff on the phone at the time of booking that all Lagoon & beach suites were ground floor access spilling onto a lawn. I got this in writing also.
Upon checkin, we were informed we would be on the 2nd floor suite with a balcony instead of a lawn access room. (so please note, not all suites are on the ground floor) Bitterly disapointing given we have an infant in a pram & a very active 2.5yr old toddler- the sole reason we booked this room type so he could still play whilst we watched from the comfort of our room. I showed the staff the conformation email only to be told that they read it as a 'recommendation of a ground floor rather than a confirmation'. They couldnt find us a ground floor room until the following day so we had to move rooms on day 2- not ideal with 2 kids & no compensation would be given for the inconvience. Once i complained, they kindly upgraded us to a ground floor beach suite which was stunning and made a real difference to our trip.
Beach suite locations are much more central & amongst the action as opposed to the lagoon suites.
Breakfast=10/10. delicious & great range.
Family pool- absolutely perfect for little kids/babies/toddlers. A few water features and ankle deep in one part great for crawling bubbas & inderpendant littilies.
Staff- so friendly! also amazing with names!
Fiji time- This is not just a saying.
Service- i can't tell you the amount of times i called reception from our room with no answer. Unmanned phones far too many times during the stay.
Buffet dinners- i don't think it is worth the 95 Fijian dollar. Lovely but not a huge range for that price.
Tapas menu at Karma lounge- Rarely did you see people ordering from here but we did on the last night & wished we had done it earlier in the trip & was delicious and a nice change from eating in the restaurants.
Navo fine dining- very very poor. We ordered 6 different drinks off the menu that were not avalaible. cornona, 4 different champagnes, red bull, belverdere vodka. The red wine served to us was also off. For a 5 star hotel, this was very poor. Food & service was lovely & definately a level up but you pay for it.
The resort is very windy so keep in ind of you have a small baby of an evening we needed a little wrap at times.
Kids club- maybe it was just a very quiet week but i expected more from the kids club/activities centre. It was all very quiet & even the scheduled daily activities by the pool were pretty non existatnt/lame. The staff were awesome & fun so im going to put it down to the hotel not being busy and not having the crowds to make it fun.
Rooms- spacious, modern, clean, lovely, perfect for our family of 4.
Spa- amazing treatment, amazing ambience, amazing extras in a little tea, fruit bar & fresh juice.
Karma lounge evening shows & happy hour was delightful every day.
A lovely week but one guest i met in the pool put it perfectly, if you dont leave the resort you could be at a big resort anywhere in the world. Need to leave on tours to get a real tatse of Fiji.

We almost stayed. Couldn't get into denerau over easter at first recommend here at inter continental. We did get accomodation in denerau so didnt end up here. But curious took our rental car and travelled the 45 km from denerau ie about 119 km return from nadi airport to have a look. We like denerau so close to everything. The intercontinental is the next quality resort along the coast. Otherwise you just have a huge trip to less than 5 star resorts furyher slong the coast. We loved our day visit.. great beach... swimming stunning off the beach even at low tide so way nicer swimming and snorkeling than off denerau by far. Hotel pools and restaurants were stunning. Didnot see inside accomodation but looked great well positioned for views snd sun. A definite choice. A bit too far away from choices in restaurants and othet activities and for us. Golfers go there!!
