“Best accommodation in Nadi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Idealistic environment which caters to the young at heart but also has amazing activities for older patrons as well.
The current owners make this establishment are welcoming not only to tourists but to local guests as well which along my travels I have discovered has become quite a rarity. If you wish for a true Fijian experience, smugglers is the place to explore this.
Although the beach front is not the pristine white you experience along the coral coast line it is still very maintained, clean and have many activities which you can indulge in to keep every age occupied, even on the quietest of days.
As for the staff you are greeted with a welcoming smile and have yet to encounter any member which isn't willing to assist with the smallest request. Their smiles and contagious laugh is enough to brighten any day.
Tai and the kavaholic crew keep you entertained two nights per week with their version of introduction to Fiji traditional drink Kava and their version of certain tunes are a definite laugh. The traditional fire dancing and Fijian dancing really makes you feel the true passion of Fiji and their customs. Their rooms are very well maintained, cleaned daily and are very high in standard for a low budget resort.the convenience of global gossip wifi all around the resort at extremely cheap rates makes the stay a bonus.
Would go back over and over again!

Room Tip: I had a new room in the back of the facility, perhaps requested room with verandah or ocean view woul...

Our sincere gratitude BeckyConnelly for describing exactly what we have envisioned and have been working towards making this a reality for Smugglers Cove Beach Resort. Initially we opened to cater for young travelers and the youth market however due to the rising requests and demands from older patrons looking for not only comfortable accommodation but with character as well thus we have ventured to accommodate and cater for this combined niche market over the years. As you pointed out our local community have also seen and appreciated this atmosphere, genuine warmth and no discrimination of any sort – first come first serve basis and most returnees are called by their first names even to the state where their orders are being brought by staffs without them having to order due to staff familiarity of their preferences. This warm inviting environment is created by our hard working staffs and quite a challenge task considering the cross culture and different generation preferences - they will be very grateful to read your comments. Overall it has been a rewarding experience to see more good results from this very unique combination of patrons. We thank you again for your kind comments and we hope to get another opportunity to see you again in the near future. Vinaka Vakalevu.

The lovely staff at SMUGGLERS COVE came to our rescue (mum travelling alone with 2 young children) when we recently had the misfortune of being dumped by Virgin Australia at the Grand Melanesian (do NOT stay there under ANY circumstances) when our flight back home was cancelled.

Not only did they send someone to fetch us so that we didn't have to try and find a taxi in the dark, but we arrived at Smugglers Cove to find fire dancing happening on the beach, a lovely outdoor restaurant next to a pool with good food and great staff.

The friendly staff arranged a taxi for our very early departure and also offered to arrange something for us for breakfast due to our early departure.

Thank you!!

We are very glad for the great opportunity to accommodate and show you our Fijian hospitality and amenities offered at Smugglers Cove Beach Resort. The free airport pick-up is a courtesy inclusion with our accommodation rates which greatly assists you our guests to locate our property. Our staffs have worked very had to create the very welcoming ambiance that continues to draw guests and diners alike with not only the nightly cultural entertainment we feature but also because of the seaside location and we really appreciate your comment on this. We hope you had a safe trip after leaving Smugglers Cove and we look forward to another opportunity to accommodate you all in the future. Vinaka Vakalevu.

I stayed here for three nights while i was in Nadi.
I would stay there again .. the back restaurant/bar was fantastic and the staff are very friendly.
The back pool restaurant/bar area comes alive at night .
Not too keen on the complimentary breakfast though as it was quite plain .. you can still order a better breakfast in the main restaurant/bar area which is a plus..

Room Tip: Ask to stay upstairs where reception is... the rooms are better!

Smugglers is nice but is definitely not a resort. I felt it would be more appropriate for travellers in the single, younger age group, mainly backpackers. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a premium room which was a good size and cleaned on a daily basis. Being a traveller in my 50's my personal experience was somewhat of a mixed bag. Unfortunately I am a light sleeper so I found it very noisy, e.g. loud humming noise from air conditioning compressors filtered through the slat windows and the heavy duty doors constantly being slammed by guests very late at night. I asked to be moved to another room which the hotel was kind enough to do but unfortunately worse than the room I vacated. After a few sleepless nights I bought some ear plugs in town, which helped a little. I also found the location to be a bit isolated. If you missed one of the buses which go into Nadi (very limited service) or the options are walking to the main road to get another bus (half an hour's walk if you are fast) or a taxi, which can work out to be expensive. If you are cashed up hire cars or motor bikes are available for hire next door. I would not recommend this hotel to any of my friends. Its great for young people who like to soak up the sun during the day and party at night.

Room Tip: Request a room in the newer part of the Hotel.

Thank you Katerina S for your feedback following your stay. We are grateful that you selected our accommodation however we sincerely regret that your stay was very uncomfortable as you noted. As you highlighted this is not your ideal holiday accommodation if you are looking for some peace and quiet. Smugglers Cove is a tourism awards winning budget accommodation provider mainly targeted in the youth industry and marketed by our global partners as an activity bustling centre in the middle of nowhere, i.e. town & airport. Due to these reasons we have attracted bookings from many couples, families and upmarket travelers looking to participate in our daily & nightly programs and gain access to the renowned & only 2km stretch of beach. This would of course create that picture of 'a bit of a mixed bag'. The very affordable rates & amenities featured is a complementary on its own . Currently we are undergoing plans to build a 5-Star Smugglers Cove Resort with amenities & prices to match and we hope we will get another opportunity to accommodate you then. Vinaka Vakalevu.

Great review Corbin C! This is an achievement itself for our Chef and his team. We are indeed very proud of what he & his team have done so far, we now have our very own Lobster menu which is now featured in our website - the secret ingredient is how this is flavored and presented. We have printed out your comments to pass on to our F & B staffs including Laisa & Rakesh as this gives them a sense of satisfaction every time they read of your appreciation. Thank you for your kind rating and we look forward to meeting you again. Vinaka Vakalevu.

We stayed here for one night between a trip to the islands and a flight home in one of the rooms rather than the dorm/hostel section - this was significantly more expensive but still good value. The room was large and came with towels and toiletries. The bar of smugglers cove is brilliant, had a great atmosphere, the food was tasty and the drinks well priced. Breakfast not so great unless you're first through the door. The pool / loungers / seating area is much better than most other places we saw in Nadi for daytime use. Would recommened.

Room Tip: Rooms rather than dorms were great if you can spare the extra

Bula and thank you KateMattB for your very kind rating and review of Smugglers Cove Beach Resort. We have put in a lot of effort into creating and upgrading our private rooms to accommodate the many demands from mid range to up-market travelers and we are real glad to read of you kind feedback of our rooms and other amenities offered. Thank you for the tip about breakfast and we will re-look into this option however our breakfast is created in complimentary with the rates offering a full continental buffet selection and you have the option to order off the 'all day' ala cart menu for any hot breakfast if you prefer. We cannot at the moment offer full American Breakfast with the rates we feature. Thank you again and we hope to have another opportunity to accommodate you. Vinaka Vakalevu.

We stay there for 1 night for morning flight.

The room is basic, have TV and A/C.

Close to port, town and airport. Employees were friendly and helpful. You can find a lot of information in the lobby and you can book your trip to Yasawa Islands full AAF desk in their lobby.

Good food & bar, Fire dance is perfect!!

Many thanks TANLEYTANG for your fair review of Smugglers Cove Beach Resort following your stay. Yes we are ideally located between Nadi International Airport & Town and that on the 2km stretch of beach, the renowned picnic spot in Nadi. We feature modern rooms & amenities with basic necessities so our main market target, i.e. youth industry/travelers may be able to afford the accommodation. We try our best to offer and maintain further incentives like the cultural infused environment & on site-activity consultations to anywhere in Fiji and we are glad you enjoyed these services as well. After years of trials we have been recognized and awarded the Tourism Excellence Award for Best Budget Accommodation Provider. We have now ventured to the next level, i.e. 5-Star beach resort and plans are already underway to achieve this. Thank you again and we hope to have another opportunity to accommodate you. Vinaka Vakalevu.
