“Perfect for a day or 2.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2010

Great place to stay for a day or two - Good food and so easy to travel into Nadi via local bus or to get to the islands.

Never got into the pool sorry to say but looked awesome.

Band plays till 10.30 or 11 so if your having a early night bad luck ;-P There awesome but only have about 25 songs.

This was the second time we used Raffles for a stopover coming back home from an island holiday in Fiji. Last time was quite agreeable, so I decided to use Raffles again. Its close proximity to the airport and resulting fast transfer across is a bonus. We enjoy the pool and to be honest it is excellent value as a stopover hotel be it for a night or just a day room while you wait for your flight.

The rooms are adequately large for a short stay, with a good sized bathroom, coffee and tea making facilities and a small balcony. Our balcony faced towards the airport and was on the second floor, so we were afforded a bit of an outlook over the pool. The rooms have been spotlessly clean both times we have stayed.

Check in is fast and the staff have all been friendly. There is an internet kiosk near the restaurant which is available for a small charge. Also a small store for souvenirs etc.

We had a couple of meals at Raffles this time, lunch and dinner and to be honest we found the food to be to a high standard and of really good value. Serves were more than adequate.

The pool with its famous water slide is a great place to spend the hours waiting for your flight - I'd get a day room at Raffles rather than sit in the airport for a few hours, any day of the week!

Despite its proximity to the airport, noise does not seem to be an issue. The hotel was not very busy when we stayed - this was in early September.

We will most definitely use Raffles Gateway when we invariably head back to Fiji again, and we need either a day room or a short stay.

Terrific hotel, excellent staff and service, brilliant for pre and post island stays. Great pools and bar, nice restaurant and good room service. This was our third stay and would'nt even think of going anywhere else. Looking forward to returning :-)

We had not booked in advance, but were looking for a hotel at arrival and a hotel the last night before leaving. Ended up here at arrival, and booked a night before departure when we checked out. This hotel was a pleasant surprise, with a huge swimming-pool area, and OK hotel restaurant and good beds. And not at least very close to the airport and the bus-stop. I wouldn't look furrther for a transit hotel, if I was going for the Yasawas or Mamanucas the next day. We had a room with one double bed , two singles and a bathroom with shower. More than adequate when on transit.

Stayed one night en route to islands, Hotel is clean, things work, meals are OK, staff very pleasant. However its main benefit (location) is also its limitation. Its right opposite Nadi airport entrance, on the main road. The public bus, and courtesy bus to the Yasawa Flyer ferry (departs from Port Denarau) stops right outside. So, perfect for one night transit stop. However once in the hotel you are stuck there, Nowhere to go unless you like strolling alongside the main road (!!) or taking a taxi somewhere . There is a decent pool but it was understandably packed. Concur with other reviewers whio recommend upgarding to a 'suite' - and also bargain hard for a room at the back of the property - Nadi airport does get air traffic at unsocial hours.

I'm a local and have stayed at the Gateway on numerous occassions with my wife and children...the children loved it.The location is convinient, the cleanliness of the place is commendable and the staff are friendly. I'd recommend this hotel to visitors to our shores.

May 14 to 25 2010

My husband and I recently made our second trip to Nadi and decided to stay on the mainland instead of one of the outer islands. This was definitely a different experience for us. We stayed at Raffles which is located directly across the road from the airport. The hotel was clean and well manicured for such a busy place. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They saw to all of our needs and even helped us decide which way to get around by either taxi, bus or privately owned mini-vans. The price for the mini-vans was only a dollar each way but they were crammed in like a can of sardines. This is what made it so exciting! We were traveling like the locals and the occupants were easy to talk to and gave us great suggestions and directions to get around. We were able to visit many sights and towns during our stay there. We felt that this was the best way to see the true Fijian lifestyle instead of the resorts. Several times we were invited to partake in the Fijian Kava ritual. It was fabulous to sit with strangers who wanted to ask about our lives in the USA and us ask about their lives in Fiji. They all wished us many blessings on our travels and even told us what places not to waste your time on. We were never frightened or suspicious while we traveled from town to town. A note of caution though, you do need to be careful of what you are buying as souvenirs as most of them are made outside of Fiji. Never settle for the price that is quoted, your bound to find it for much less if you bargain with the seller. Fiji is a third world country and visitors should understand that the way of life there is much different from theirs.
