“Nice outing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2011

Definitely worth the taxi to get there. You can easily spend an hour or two and just kill time in that lovely garden reading a book.

“Excellent if you love orchids, other tropical plants and gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

If you love orchids, you'll really enjoy this garden at the foothills of the Nausori Highlands, and the rock face known by locals as the Sleeping Giant. It does really look like that.

The gardens are accessed by a very rough potholed gravel road for a few kilometres, so be prepared for a rough ride. All worth it, as it's like a different world with the entrance lined by old large trees and manicured gardens. Once there you see thousands of different varieties of orchids and tropical plants along a walk down to a creek and small waterfall. There is a rest area at the entrance with comfortable seating and cool drinks provided, but it is a bit dark in there, shaded by large trees.

Near the garden is the "The Fiji Orchid" boutique accommodation, I mention this because it was the residence of Raymond Burr (Hollywood Actor) who started the gardens with his private collection of orchids in the 1970's.

Make sure you take some bottled water and personal insect spray with you. There were a few mozzies when we visited.

“Not as good as it used to be but still worthwhile”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2011

A good display of orchids and some other strange plants both from Fiji and elsewhere. A short drive from Nadi and well worth the time if you have it for an hour so walk around. The staff/owners are cheery and talkative.

“Clean fresh air”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2011

I found the garden to be pretty, with the orchids and wildlife, but I never actually saw the Sleeping giant as we were told incorrect directions of where to walk!
