“Awesome place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

Bamboo Travellers has an amazing atmosphere where the staff make you feel at home. Its a great place to start and end your Fiji trip. The front desk staff are very helpful with helping plan your time in Fiji, they will make your bookings for island hopping as well as island day trips. The local bus also stops out front of the hostel so its easy and cheap to get into the town to explore and go shopping or transfer buses to get to other places on the main island. There is also plenty of things to do around the hostel with the staff hosting free activities throughout the day. In the evening there are always kava ceremonies that are free for everyone to join and are a great way to meet the other travellers at the hostel and listen to the Bamboo boys sing songs and play guitar. The price of this hostel is unbeatable and the atmosphere will make you never want to leave!

We have stayed at this resort for several years when it was under the original management. We continued to stay there after it was sold and up until the last owner made some terrible changes. The staff is not friendly and no longer knows what is going on! We called approximately three weeks in advance to make a reservation for two rooms with air conditioning. It was confirmed at the time of the call. HOWEVER, when we arrived, no one could find our reservation. The person who took our reservation was on break and they would not go get them. They said the only room available had a fan (our reservation was for two rooms with air conditioning!). While my partner was trying to sort it out, I was looking around and noticed the place was no longer kept clean and the people staying there looked unsavory, to say the least. The staff no longer wore neat uniforms and did not take any pride in their appearance or the appearance of the resort. It has also changed it's name, among other things. I would not advise any one to stay at this resort. The "staff" we tried to talk too acted like it was our problem and mad no effort to even try to accommodate our requests. The refused to even call the manager in to talk to us.

Room Tip: Best tip I can give anyone is to go back out toward the main road and stop at the Nadi Bay Resort, o...

Bula vinaka,

thanks for the feedback. As of 6 months ago, Travellers is under new management. Unfortunately your stay coincided with our transition period and thus we cordially apologise that your stay was not up to your expectation. Since your stay, the new Travellers team have got the property all sorted out and things are now going great. We have now developed a wonderful new management, a fresh team of helpful and friendly staff, and our reservations are all under control. In addition, the property has had a steady renovation over the last 6 month since your stay and we warmly invite you to return and see the surprising transformation. The property is now cleaner, tidier and more radiant :)

Also, we agree with you that Nadi Bay Resort is great place. For travellers who wish to stay in a more upmarket room for a few extra $$$, we highly recommend this option. For those seeking a fun, friendly, simple Fiji style place with basic, budget accommodation, we highly recommend staying with us ;)

Cheers and best wishes,

The Travellers Team

I stayed at Bamboo travellers both on my way through Fiji and on my stay back because I liked it so much. This is a very basic backpacker hostel (so don't have expectations of a "resort") but the price is unbeatable, it is clean enough, and the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming. It is situated right on the beach which isn't postcard beautiful but about as nice as it gets in Nadi. The staff is very helpful with booking and will pick you up at the airport; most people are only in Nadi to transfer for island hopping anyways. Kava circles every night with the local staff playing guitar; the music is pleasant but make sure you bring earplugs if you want to go to bed early.

Absolutely loved bamboo travellers! Couldn't have asked for any more. They made our whole trip to Fiji amazing. The staff were incredible and nothing was ever too much. Keep you entertained all day and night with as many activities as you want to do. Yes the rooms are basic but they are cleaned every day and its not like you go to Fiji to sit in your bedroom! The whole experience that bamboo provided us with I would reccomend to any traveller! Can't wait to go back :)

Travellers (used to be Bamboo) is a great place to stay for a few night before you head to other adventures or for a few months! - just ask the longtimers with online jobs, sailors etc. Best adventure is Travellers " Northern experience". Staff is great and the vibe and activities on offer makes you not want to leave. Ask for Activities-leader Simon -he will amaze you with extreme adventures.
