We had a fantastic weeks stay. The hosts of paradise inn Teina and Gail are very accomodating, friendly and go out of their way to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. Its location is perfect for the town only 5min walk to local shops, restaurants and nightclubs such as rehab! You can sit and chill on the veranda and admire the amazing view with a glass of red from the honesty bar. Or laze out on the 'hermet crab' beach which is personally racked every day for guests by the fair hands of Gail! The rooms are clean, spacious and cool with fans supplied.
The island really has a chilled out vibe, with amazing secluded beaches, fantastic food and friendly locals with a strong passionate cook island culture. Time does not exist here!
Materialism does not exist here!

As a woman travelling alone and to rarotonga for the first time, i had no expectations of anything when i went to rarotonga. it took me several days to realise how stressed i had been when i first arrived there and it was then that i started to feel the effect of 'island life' on rarotonga start to slow me down and chill me out. I also then fell in love with where i was staying and appreciated the people both operating and staying at the paradise inn. My room, which was basic and comfortable with a single bed downstairs and a double bed upstairs on a mezzanine floor, was my little sanctuary that I loved coming back to at the end of a fun day or for a lazy afternoon reading and relaxing. two fans operating in my room helped to keep the room more comfortable and with a kitchenette and wardrobe and toilet and shower it is perfectly sized for one or two people and soon felt like my own personal space. I loved it that i could walk to town in ten minutes or wander out of my room to the beach front and relax on a sunlounger or take a swim. The dairy next door was a frequent visit for me and extremely convenient. food is quite expensive on the island but the paw paw and mangoes were cheap and plentiful and the best i'd tasted. Teina and his beautiful wife Gail are the operators at Paradise Inn and they made all the difference to my stay on Rarotonga. At paradise inn you can be as quiet or as social as you like. the hosts are friendly and helpful and add their own special touch to making paradise inn a unique and special place to stay. I chose the perfect place for my accomodation I soon decided and would head straight back there on my next trip to rarotonga!!

You are 3 walking minutes to the Auditorium, University, and outer island hostels. A well stocked store out front beside the covered bus stop. 10 walking minutes to main shopping and banking centre of Rorotonga. 6 to 8 walking minutes to a wide range of island eateries of note and 12 walking minutes to a variety of vehicle rental outlets....The staff become your family away from home, if you choose to let them or you can have all the privacy you can endure in the comfortable, quaint, self contained studio rooms. Yes you can cook in your room..I made cheese cake and savoury eggs for our Paradise Inn xmas dinner in the community lounge. There is a deck to spread out and view whales, a well stocked library for Raro rainy days and an honesty bar is always stocked for those magnificent sunny evenings. The reef is not brilliant to swim but it's cooling, safe for children and you can lounge down on the sand under umbrellas with your self made pina coladas!!..Gail rakes it every day for you.. Hell!! .. I'm not a real estate agent but I wish I was so I could tell you..."this is the Paradise Inn folks"..The little Inn with a big island heart.

I just love coming back to stay here. New managers Id never met personally but had made contact via email, even thru the emails you could feel the friendly personality's. On my arrival , Teina met me with a lovely friendly greeting and his words, ' Welcome home', It really felt like that was the case too. Nothing is too much trouble for these two lovely people, Teina and Gail are like family and always very friendly and helpful. I felt like I had known them for years. From the friendly greeting to the invites for Christmas dinner in the common area to other invites such as joining them and other guests on the deck for social times and to having barbecue dinners on the beach out the front, sadly I missed that night as I was already booked else where for dinner.
The rooms are not like a resort but this place IS a budget accommodation and has so much awesome character and really you DO have everything you need to have a relaxing holiday. I have stayed in both the double rooms and the single budget rooms. Both are quite comfortable and all have fans and cooking facilities which are more than enough to fix up a meal or two. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The cleaning staff are lovely and very friendly too. Mata the night lady has been there for years and is always great for a chat if you cant sleep. Thanks for your lovely friendship over the years Mata, looking forward to seeing you again soon.
There is a small shop out the front which sells everything you need to cook up a decent meal. Otherwise there are other bigger supermarket style places with in walking distance. Town is walking distance and there are so many eating places very close by there is no need to even cook if you dont feel like it.
I met other guests who were staying there at the same time as my partner and myself and it was a great time of making new friends and having lots of laughs. I love just sitting on the deck watching the waves and just loosing myself with daydreams.
If you want a relaxing place to stay with amazing hosts and gorgeous views, then Paradise Inn is for you. If you are a resort bunny then drive on past.
I will be back time and time again thats a promise.

Paradise Inn is small but in a perfect location. You are able to walk to town and the rooms that have lofts make the rooms feel more spacious. We arrived the first day and saw whales from the patio! Then we were escorted to our room without having to do all the usual check in right away so you could actually rest after a long flight. The owner had previously worked at other hotels on the island and stated he preferred a more laid back approach. All this set the tone of our trip as people are so amazingly friendly in Cooks.

Travelers need to keep in mind that this is a budget inn, in the tropics, so it does have wear and tear. But for those that want a good value this is a great choice.

The pros:
Great location, probably the closest to the main town.
Wifi.
Kitchette helps to save money.
Owner is very relaxed and it really puts you at ease. You feel like you are staying with relatives instead of an inn.

The cons:
You are near housing and a lot of people have chickens. This means you hear roosters throughout the night. Bring ear plugs!
The loft rooms are a little scary if you have young children, ask for the studio room instead.
