I have been to Al Forno four times, and all occasions have been extremely memorable. Al Forno means Oven in Italian. I have also recommended Al Forno to my clients and they have raved about it. The last time we went we celebrated my wifes birthday with friends and you can't help but fall in love with this wonderful resto located on Solano Garcia just up the road from the Punta Carretas Shopping Mall. Federico is the Owner & Chef and also runs Al Forno in La Barra (Punta del Este) during the summer period. In fact, they open this October, so best to see what all the fuss it about. Both my wife and I are food and wine lovers, and almost all of the dishes at Al Forno are prepared in a Clay Oven. The clay oven is very special and enables heat to reflect evenly throughout the oven, thus eliminating cold spots and cooking food to perfection with plenty of space between dishes. Their signature dish is Brotola a fish dish that is cooked in a cast iron box and the flavors are all trapped inside, and when the cast iron box arrives at your table and is opened all these different flavors escape. Wonderful. It's truly a different way of eating with strong focus onn aromas and flavors, and set in a great atmosphere over two levels. They have an A la Carte Menu with Brotola (fish) being the most popular, and some very tasty Pasta's, but if you feel like something lighter they also do some delicious Pizza's. If Federico is not busy say hello, and enjoy the setting. You will feel right at home away from home. Fabulous.
