Description: Besides the fact that you can come to have a guided tour throughout the winery, vineyards, wine cellar and a classic car museum you can also have wine tastings and lunch. We think that the best food is usually the simple food made with high quality ingredients is the best. Our speciality are the grilled meats but do not hesitate to try our more elaborated dishes. We recommend if you are paying us a visit to do it chill, not in a hurry so you can enjoy your staying the best.

“Beautiful location and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

What a gem this place is. The setting is stunning and the food and wine was lovely particularly the liver pâté and the Brie in filo, not to mention the chocolate fondant for dessert.

“The pleasure of having a bodega minutes away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Although it is only 10 minutes away from Montevideo, it feels as if you travelled for hours. Suddently you are in the country side, only hearing the birds singing.
Bouza is one of those small elegant places where you can have an excellent meal (try the beef milanese and the brie cheese in hojaldre) in relaxed environment.
Both summer and winter represent a different good experience. A red wine in front of the fireplace for the cold months and a nice fresh white one under the pergola during the warmer times.
And if you feel like burning some calories, you can walk around the winery with a tour guide and make a stop as well in the garage (there is a kind of automovile museum).
Service is excellent, both the waiters and the sommeliers.

“A delightful wine tasting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

I can't comment on the food; however, we enjoyed the "Classico" wine tasting on a Sunday afternoon. For $25 USD, we sampled 4 different wines and had a large antipasti plate. We also took advantage of the tour at 4pm. Ana represented the winery very well and spoke good English. I would recommend a trip to this winery if you are in Montevideo for business or pleasure.

“If you never went to a winery, it is a panoramic view of winemaking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

I went to Bouza for the wine tasting, as part of the lovely Wine Experience tour. We had a nice view of all winemaking process and the cellar (and the family car museum). After they offered at the restaurant a table of hams and cheese with five wines. The sommelier went each table explaining the wines and grapes combinations that generated them.

“All the trappings of a 5 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

Based on the Trip Advisor reviews, the Bodega Bouza didn´t sound too expensive. It was a sunny day and we felt like a drive in the country so I booked a table for lunch and off we went.It was a nice drive and well sign posted so fairly easy to find. A nice graphic under glass of the property layout also made it easy to find our way to the restaurant.

The place is impressive, lots of waiters running around in monkey suits, large tables with big comfortable chairs ... so far so good. However we were left standing at reception for a full ten minutes without any acknowledgement that we were there, despite the fact that various staff around us obviously saw us, and one lady actually came to the reception desk and left again without attending to us. I felt that a “Hello, we´ll be with you shortly” would be a minimum requirement in a place pertaining to 5 star service, or any restaurant for that matter.

Once we were seated it was again almost an hour before we received our order, although bread, water and a small aperitif was served shortly after we were seated. After we finished our mains we were left sitting at the table for probably another 30 minutes before the plates were cleared, and maybe another 5 or 10 minutes before the menu was presented for us to make our desert choice. All this time despite the fact that the restaurant was only half full.

We ordered a soufflé (which was superb, BTW), and two coffees. The soufflé appeared after another wait (I stopped counting at this point), but the coffees never arrived. By the time we finished the soufflé the flies were getting really bad (yes, we had an inside table) and coffees were not coming. When I requested the bill, they had put the coffees on the bill, indicating that they had not been forgotten by the waiter when we ordered. My other gripe is that we were served by three different waiters, although this may have been due to the hour ... it was getting really late by the time we left.

We both ordered lamb chops with sweet potato and rocket, which was delightful.

The bill came to 1930 pesos, or just under US$100 plus the tip.
The break up is (in pesos)
Cover charge each $80................... 160
Water....................$60.....................60
Lamb.....................$520..................1,040
Bottle of wine..................................390
Souffle de martin ............................280
22% Sales Tax ..................................348
Total .............................................. $1930
With the tip it came to $2100. In the Old City we can eat a meal of similar quality for around 5 – 600 pesos.

We had a pleasant walk around the property and lay down on the grass beside a lake with gum trees and ducks (see my photos), so altogether, although not 5 star, it was a rather pleasant outing, but not one we will be doing again any time soon.
