“Almost all the rave”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

This is by far the most heralded (and most expensive) restaurant in Montevideo so I had to check it out. The setting is perfect, located in Ciudad Vieja just next to the Teatro Solis, on the actual building, in fact. The dining room was excellently laid out with the perfect lighting. The live music was refreshing and I had one of the best salads I've eaten there, I actually wish it was a full-sized salad so I could have skipped the lamb entree, which left much to be desired. I tasted a distinct difference in the water they served, much lighter than I've had in other Uruguayan restaurants. The service was friendly but there were too many different waiters.

“Ideal setting for a special occasion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014 via mobile

Since my wife and I only had a few days left on holiday, we decided to splurge a little and dine at this restaurant. What a fortuitous decision! The interior of the restaurant is painted in vibrant red with very beautiful paintings hung on the walls. We were ushered into an intimate booth by the maître'd. He recommended an excellent tannat from their daunting wine list. Priced at 1220 pesos, it might have been the tastiest wine we had drunk for our entire trip! We opted to share a salad, two entrees, and dessert. We probably could have gotten by with just one entree considering the size of each course. The arugula salad with fig and cheese was outstanding, beautifully presented in one large bowl. Our entrees of stuffed ravioli in a blueberry sauce(delicious) and an assortment of three different fish(the week link of the meal) were split and served individually. Finally, the citrus medley dessert(wonderfully tart and sweet) came on one platter. Service was impeccable, not hurried(21/2 hours) and yet very solicitous. As an added bonus, there appeared high on stage a vocalist and pianist who entertained us with cafe background music. This was truly a most memorable dining experience!

“Terrible food, great water”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

Showed up here because of the ratings and the location. Music was nice and the ambiance was clean, but the food was very lackluster. Ordered the 28 day dry aged steak and a friend ordered the pork, steak was chewy and rough, sauce had no real flavour, with no signs of aging, and the pork was extremely dry.

The best thing at the restaurant was the water. This was the crispest, most refreshing bottle of water I have had in Uruguay. It tasted like i was drinking from the peak of the fuji mountains. Just amazing. Highly recommend the water.

Onion soup was ok.

Nothing nice about the service either, cold staff and even after telling them the food was poor no one cared.

Only go there for drinks (water) or the lounge. Not food.

“The chef is to fault”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

Excellent place and location, in the middle of the old city. Spectacular ambience. Excellent wine list. Extremely good service. But...the overall quality of the food is very, very poor. we ordered the tasting sea and earth.parrilla. All of the components seemed to.be fried, not grilled. Poor palate tasting. Not even the cheese table was of acceptabke quality. Only the foie gras and the wine we ordered were according to the otherwise faboulous setting. The restaurant is, in our opinion, in dire need of another chef.

“excellent place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014 via mobile

Decided to try this place and was not disappointed. Great ambiance, elegant and sophisticated yet not stuffy. Food quality was great and the service was friendly and helpful. The prices were not too high given the quality of the experience. I would certainly return!
