I can't say enough good things about Tambo del Inka. It's such a beautiful property in an incredibly gorgeous setting and the service was top notch. The rooms are large, really comfortable and beautifully decorated. The food in the restaurant was the best we had in all of Peru with a really interesting menu and flawless service. There is also a great bar. Having a train station on the grounds also made it really convenient for our trip up to Machu Picchu. It's also an amazing value compared to the other luxury properties in Peru. Highly, highly recommended!

Room Tip: Room with a terrace is worth the extra cost!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had a spectacular 2 room suite with a patio walk-out where we could sit and listen to the little stream and look at the hills - really lovely! The rooms are beautifully and comfortably decorated and well equipped. There was really nothing else we could have asked for. The spa was wonderful and the bar and restaurant were very good (but not outstanding). The front desk staff were excellent and everyone we came in contact with had been well trained and it showed! Our only disappointment, which can't be avoided, id that the hotel does big business with the tour groups. The very big groups tended to dominate the dining room and make it hard to hear above the noise.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for choosing Tambo del Inka, a magnificent ensemble of the Luxury Collection!

It is terrfic to read your comment and realize that you did have an outstanding experience while in our resort.

Concerned to hear that you did have some inconveniences due to other groups in the same outlets . Sure hope that this situation has not modified, in any way, your feeling towards our property , staff and service.

Looking forward to hosting you again in time.

This hotel is set in a lovely garden, offers first-rate personal service, and nicely decorated spacious rooms. The breakfast buffet is excellent and there is also a menu offering freshly prepared omelettes, etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing on the garden and river

Apparently the best hotel in Latin America - definitely the best hotel in Peru but I wouldn't necessarily go as far as including the entire region :-)
Urubamba is not the place to be but Tambo del Inka certainly is. Great architecture and breathtaking views of the mountains.
We booked a Junior suite & we ended up with a Master suite (superb!) . I suggest you book a suite, still affordable & you have the privilege to have Alvaro. The man can work his magic & make everything happen. We spent 3 days hoping to dedicate one to go to Machu Picchu but clearly not researched enough to know that we had to book everything in advance - Alvaro organised the entire thing in no time from train to the bus to the entrance to MP and came to greet us back at the train station - if that is not hospitality, I don't know what is.
The rooms are great, the hotel surroundings spectacular, the food at both bar & restaurant needs some improvement & so does the service. The cocktails on the other hand are a must try.
Reviews are subjective so don't take this to heart.

-Too family friendly for our liking. I don't mind children for as long as they are not jumping in the spa pool & screaming right next to my ear - the hotel has enough space to create a children's pool.
-Annoyed that the only place to smoke is at the entrance of the hotel, no smoking @ the bar terrace was a tad frustrating. Great for non smokers though ;-)
-Convenient that the train station to MP is part of the hotel's facilities
-Try to get concierge or lovely Alvaro to arrange some excursions in the nearby sites.

Overall great experience, good job Starwood.

Room Tip: Suite! Junior or master, size matters ;-)

My wife and I was fortunate to spend several days at Tambo del Inka, an extremely wonderful experience. The rooms were great, the spa exceptional and the staff fantastic. In particular their in house travel service was excellent, arranging tours, train and an exceptional guide to help us through the wondrous experience Machu Picchu.

Liset Aragon was the guide and her knowledge, experience and kindness was palpable. She skillfully guided us through Machu Picchu in an wonderful tour, she is especially knowledgeable and interesting. She is also extremely pleasant and humorous. She made the trip a great experience.

The hotel and train experience were first class.

Thanks again

Room Tip: Use Liset Aragon as a guide, she is great

I loved staying for two days prior to going to Machu Picchu, and one day after at the Tambo del Inca. This is an exceptional property styled with soaring fireplaces, extremely high ceilings, and the most beautiful tropical wood. The hotel has it's own train station for going to Machu Picchu which was extremely convenient. The hotel stored our suitcases while we traveled light to Machu Picchu, and even had a bellman waiting at the station upon our return so that he could carry our light bags for the 2 minute walk. All of the staff was perfectly trained, friendly, and were very helpful.

Rooms are appointed with a nice large marble bathroom with an enclosed wet room for the tub and shower, two sinks, and a separate toilet and bidet room. Directv had many stations in English and great music channels. The comfortable beds offered both down and fiberfill pillows to accommodate one's preference.

I made frequent use of the lobby coffee, tea, and coca station while reading the news using the free wifi. Great included breakfast with cooked to order and buffet selections. The spa's pool was half inside and half outside, and the LED lights turned the pool pretty colors at night. If you come to the Sacred Valley, this is a must stay at place.

I have stayed all over the world in some great hotels and resort/spas - and tend to favor luxury. Tambo del Inka is by far the best hotel in the Sacred Valley, probably the best hotel in Peru; and ranks right up there on my list as one of the best properties I have stayed at anywhere in my travels.

Although the setting is not idyllic: there is no mountain top view or view over city lights or a crashing surf or calm sea to paint in the background; but the hotel itself is superior in design and comfort and the grounds beautiful and well maintained. We loved the comfortable and inviting lobby and public spaces; especially the large fire place that anchors the entire hotel complex. There is a cool (but heated) infinity pool that straddles inside/outside the spa and some areas to grab some rays. Front desk staff and concierge were very pleasant and helpful. Great service when ever you asked for it.

We booked a Junior Suite, which was comprised of two separate well-appointed rooms; 1 the living room with full couch, card table and chairs; and the second sleeping room with two very comfy beds and a large walk in closet.. The bathroom had a great stand up shower with excellent water pressure. Our room also had a walk out patio to a private sitting area. The beds are extremely comfortable with high end linens, great pillows and a wonderful duvet. We even landed a private butler! - who helped us out with car service, flight confirmations and some other sundry needs. Not sure when the butler extra kicks in ,but likely we booked in a Jr. Suite (off season price, it was a great value).

We ate only one dinner meal at the hotel (which was informal hamburger fair -served out of the bar- which was also quite nice). I also had breakfast one morning - which was good, I read the menus otherwise which all seemed good - and pricey (but, we must remember this is a high end resort that charges international prices). The hotel is a walk away from many good restaurant choices in town; and close to a number of activities in the Sacred Valley (including the most fun Zip Line experience we have ever had!).

Our only gripe is that the hot tubs were not available to the hotel guests and could only be used by Spa dwellers.

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong with either a River view or not. We did not have one, but a nice...
