“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2012

We had a wonderful stay. The food was great and the surroundings are beautiful. The bartender was friendly and let us practice our Spanish with him without any laughter! We were sorry that we had not chosen the other Casa Andinas for our trip.

We were enthusiastically looking forward to staying at this supposedly luxury hotel. However upon arrival we realised that the price and the quality didn't really match.

To start with, the rooms are sub-standed and clearly past their use-by date. The bath was clogged and the room looked tired.

The staff are not that welcoming with service significantly below the quality expected from a hotel carrying the name "private collection" and holding itself as a luxury 4 star hotel.

The restaurant food was basically inedible and as there are not other choices, make sure you stock up at a local supermarket before coming here. The service at the restaurant is poor. For example we waited 15 min just to get stale bread at the table. Breakfast is farcical with the guy making the eggs having a incredibly poor attitude.

They have a great spa and a wonderful planetarium experience however these are overshadowed by the other imperfections of the place.

Finally, if you want internet connect, you have to huddle with everyone else in reception to get 56k modem speed.

Suffice to say, we won't be back and would thoroughly recommend people to explore all options before selecting this place.

Room Tip: Find another hotel!!!

I spent one night at this lovely place. It is isolated but the beautiful view was definitely worth the two hour drive from Cusco. We had a ground floor double bed room. It was very large & spotlessly clean. They can provide oxygen if needed (we needed 20 min. at bedtime). There are stairs to the second story. However, the stairs from the front desk also have a ramp to get to the ground floor rooms. Most rooms open to the outside, not hallways & they do provide umbrellas in large pots at key points in order to get to the main building for dinner, etc.when raining. Dinner & breakfast were excellent. We did not drink any tap/filtered water anywhere in Peru---ONLY bottled water, used bottled for teeth brushing also. Which is what the 4 tourbooks I read recommended. We did not eat ice or order any drinks with ice. We did not have any gastric problems while on the trip or after we arrived home. In the morning it was only a 20 min. drive to Ollantaytambo RR station for train to Agua Calientes for Machu Picchu. I would certainly stay at this hotel again!

This was one of four Casa Andina Private Collection hotels that I stayed at on my trip and definitely my favorite. The location is isolated but beautiful and the layout of the hotel with the low storey buildings and the casitas fits in well with the surroundings. The room we had (102) was a ground floor room facing the spa. We could see the mountains just beyond and the room included a closed off porch with large windows that opened although we did not have a deck like the upper floor rooms. While the decor is not amazing, the room was much larger than other ones we had in other Casa Andina's and we really appreciated the large bathroom. The spa was a bit pricey for Peru and on the small side, but the service was good and I enjoyed my facial treatment. The restaurant was good and had a decent variety of Peruvian and international dishes. Overall, we wished that we had stayed more than one night in this property.

The location of this hotel is isolated in amazing beauty from all sides. The views are just spectacular to look at first thing in the morning. It's so relaxing and I felt happy all the time. I just wish it had a swimming pool. Also, the spa was a bit pricey for a local hotel chain- massages were up to $170. Food in the restaurant isn't great but there aren't many places to eat in the area especially if you have no car.

What I love about the Casa Andina chain is the local flavor it has. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very nicely decorated with a traditional south american touch. The rooms are not as fancy as one might think, being part of the private collection, but I think they're great compared to other hotels in Peru.

We stayed at the Valle Sagrado's Casa Andina Private Collection, the night prior to starting the Inka Trail. It was a perfect setting off spot as it is less travel to get to the magic "Kilometre 82" (official start of the trail).

The hotel grounds are simply magnificent. The rooms have lovely views and are very clean. All the CA PC hotels we stayed at (in Lima, Valle Sagrado and Lake Titicacca) were very clean, modern and comfortable.

The only small drawback might have been that the only restaurant readily available is the hotel's dining room. It is a also a lovely setting, but the food was not as good as other meals we had and the service was painfully slow. A small price to pay for such a gorgeous hotel, literally in the midst of a sacred valley on the edge of the Inka Trail.

We stayed at thsi hotel as part of a group. Although the room was at first very nice it soon became apparent that it needed maintenance. The coch in the living room should have been replaced about two years ago. The English CNN was not available and I mentioned it on the first day to the front desk. A repair man came by, saw that the TV was working and left. After three days when we got ready to leave and the rest fo the group mentioned ti to the frnt desk we were FIALLY able to see CNN in Englsih.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. At Casa Andina we always try to do our best and to find better ways to achieve customer satisfaction. We really feel sorry for the inconveniences with our tv cable service. We are glad to inform you that we have recently changed our supplier in order to get a better satellite signal. This provides us with more variety of English channels.

Kind regards,
