“Wonderful Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

We stayed at the Aranwa Hotel for three nights and it was wonderfu. The gounds of the hotel are absolutely amazing and the entire experience was incredible. We were there to see the Sacred Valley and to go to Machu Picchu. I suffered a bit from altitude sickness so we were light eaters but found that we were able to go to the bar and eat upstairs using either their main dining room menu or the cafe menu. Both were excellent. The food, the wait staff and the quality of the service were impeccable. The breakfast buffet each morning was wonderful. The views from the hotel grounds are incredible. It is a bit remote but we had arranged transportation so for us it was not a problem. We would love to return and hopefully someday we will.

Sept 16

Absolutely 5 star.
Probably the most luxurious resort I have ever stayed in. Spa services were available. Indoor and outdoor pools with Jacuzzis. The resort was an oasis. On site gift shops, with beautiful grounds, bar, and restaurants. The bath room even had an electric towel heater.
Reasonably priced restaurant for dinner. In the morning it opened for breakfast at 5 am.
The whole resort was nothing short of spectacular. I wish I had another day to unwind and relax.

Went on 3 day-2night package. You need to ask very well where will be the person that will pick you up from the airport. We waited for 40 min until this situation was solved. Anyway, this first bad impression was definitively forgotten after our great stay. Perfect for a romantic getaway. Massages are expensive and it depends on the girl treating you the massage can be from lame to good. I had a deep tissue massage, that was good. Next day we had one of the couple packages. $300 for 3 hrs of steam chambers, jacuzzi&champagne and a massage, it was pretty romantic and relaxing, but the massages was lame lame, it is more of a rubbing with oils. Anyway, at that point I was pretty relaxed and overall my husband and I loved it, we finished that in the oxygen room which was pretty cool.
Food a bit salty, but when I started asking for low salt, everything was fine. Solterito was awesome, my husband loved the osobuco. Breakfast is good. The hotel is gorgeous. We go upgraded to the river suite and it was a blast, with river views, pretty awesome. It is a perfect place to unplugged from the city and relax!!! Would I go back? Yes!

This hotel is just gorgeous! The resort style (read: large property) is not even noticeable due to the immaculate landscaping and breathtaking views! The pool was freezing when we were there in September but the hot tub was just great! The food at dinner was so-so (I would advice against getting the sashimi, it was terrible) but not bad - we did order sushi though. I would venture outside of the hotel for dinner. The breakfast buffet that is included in the price is great and has something for everyone. The staff are extremely helpful and very nice and willing to please. The pisco and maracuya sours are excellent too;-) The most wonderful thing about this hotel besides from all the things listed above is the view both on property and beyond. You are in the mountains and the views from every which way are just amazing. The property is so well-groomed with beautiful flora and parrots and peacocks (pavo real)!!! The gym is a nice touch but in order to get one hour of yoga it is $71 per person which is ridiculous. Some of the spa I thought was a little pricey, but not bad for a resort. Also, you are kind of in the middle of nowhere which is nice on one hand and inconvenient on the other. It just depends on what you are there for. It's a great hotel for relaxing and taking in breathtaking views with excellent service.

The staff are a little challenged in communication and don't seem to be consistent. For example, I was told one day they could not break my $100 soles and the next day they did. We were told different fares on taxis, got different recommendations on markets within the same conversation (this market is the best and then telling us another market was the best), etc. Also, some of the spa didn't seem to be fully functional - it is a beautiful spa though and the staff are very friendly! Also, the cab/car service provided through the hotel is ridiculously expensive - have them call a cab for you even if they refuse at first.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments on the hotel and resort style, views and lansdcaping. We value our fauna deeply and care for our surroundings. We regret the less-than-stellar dining experience you had, and appreciate the comments on our staff quality. The cost for the yoga lesson is due to the season, we have to call an offsite yogi and that brings up the cost regretfully.

Regarding the breaking of a $100 bill, the staff has a limited amount of change they can work with during the day. The receptionist should have explained that and looked for a solution. For recommendations, there are two big markets around the Sacred Valley: Chinchero and Pisac, we apologise for the confusion.

We hope to see you again soon and be able to smooth out any details that made your stay less than perfect.

Regards,

Gabriel Alvarez - General Manager Aranwa Hotels

We stayed in two Aranwa hotels during our trip to Peru, this was the second of the two. The other one was in Cusco (Both were amazing).

This hotel is breathtakingly beautiful. There are parrots and four peacocks roaming the grounds. Supposedly there are also alpaca, but we never saw them. We were in room 229 in Sector C and it was amazing. Though this is probably the smallest of the rooms, it was very large, had a comfy California King bed, slate tile floors in the bathroom area, a two person Jacuzzi tub and satellite high speed Internet. Two bottles of water are provided each day and they seemed to be constantly bringing treats like chocolates to our room in the evening.

Pool:
It was too cool to try out the pool but it looked nice and inviting.

Food:
The hotel is kind of like a walled compound and there is no easy access to any town so plan on dining at the hotel while you are there. We ate in the formal dining room one night and the food was excellent and affordable. The other night we ate in the bar. The Aranwa Club Sandwich is a must-eat. Breakfast is wonderful and is usually included in package deals. Eggs, omelets, toast, sausage, bacon, etc.

Customer Service:
The staff was fantastic. We got mixed up on our days and discovered we were leaving a day earlier than expected. They rushed us through checkout and had a cab waiting to take us back to Cusco and we made our flight. A+++ service the entire time we were there. Better than any Weston we have ever stayed with in the US. My wife and I highly recommend this hotel / resort.

Spa:
Though the spa "menu" looks quite expensive, my wife tells me it is worth every penny. This is not your average spa with general massages. It is five stars all the way. Indulge yourself and foot the extra cash for the treatment.

We stayed at Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel & Wellness before paying a visit to beautiful Machu Picchu. From the moment we were driven to our room in a golf cart, and got a glimpse of the beautiful hotel grounds plus the mountains nestling the place, we were completely blown away. It was spellbounding! Indeed, we felt as though we were in heaven...

After almost freezing and tiring to death doing the Via Ferrata & Zip line in the Sacred valley mountains earlier that day, we were very grateful to be able to rest in a place with such comfortable and beautiful accomodations. We also thought the old colonial part of the hotel including the charming little chappel in the middle of the grounds, give the place a very cozy and inviting ambience.

Food at the restaurant was excellent and fairly priced for a hotel. Breakfast was also good and included in the room nightly rate. A $4 usd price for a cup of American coffee purchased at the bar one afternoon is my only complaint. I thought it was extremely overpriced! My husband ordered room service one night ( A yummy ham & Cheese sandwich with fries), and the check was only $ 6.95 usd. Go figure? So, I never understood what was the deal with the $4 usd price coffee.

Apart from that tiny little detail, everything was superb. The staff was very friendly and the service provided to guests was excellent from the moment you set foot in the door.

Special thanks to Percy Jackson, an expert travel agent who works with Hotel Aranwa, (referred to us by the Hotel) who assited us very diligent and professionally, in purchasing our entrance tickets to Machu Pichu, weeks in advance! He also helped us buy our bus tickets from Aguas Calientes to Machu Pichu before hand, so that we would not have to worry about anything the day of our visit.

In sum, we were delighted with every aspect of our stay. Although we didn´t have time to try the spa, we heard from others guests that it was great!
We animate anyone who plans to visit Machu Picchu to consider stay at least one or two days in Hotel Aranwa, Valle Sagrado. You won´t regret it!
