“Cute dog, but nothing else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

We had fun playing with the dog, but the rooms were boring, food was bad, and service was terrible.

I realized this hotel would be perfect for us as soon as we arrived. It is located near the mountains, absolute silence and the nature surrounding it is incredible. The hotel has beautiful and peaceful gardens. The rooms are stunning: every detail has been taken care of. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are very good and on top of it all one has Mary, the manager, looking after the guests in a very personal and friendly way. Everyone there is just lovely. We recommend it 100% Thank you for everything and for making this vacation so special!

The lodge is in a lovely rural setting. The rooms are charming and the staff is accomodating. The lodge is located far from everything. If you enjoy a rural setting to relax this is the place for you. It is not possible to go to a restaurant unless you schedule a taxi to and from and I believe it is at least a 30 minute ride each way. The lodge has a restaurant as well as a bar with Direct TV (there are no TVs in the rooms). The Wi-Fi does not work in the rooms or the bar. The lodge was booked by a tour company. At the time I paid our bill for food and drink, the staff claimed that the credit card machine was not working and I had to dig into our U.S. dollars to pay the bill. We are city people and like to be able to go to town for dinner. While the accomodations were quite nice, we would have prefered a more urban locationl

The Villas are set in a private, quiet, beautiful setting with grounds that wonderful. The staff is so very professional and carter to your needs. With a cook and housekeeper assigned to each villa, they become fast friends and treat you as if you were royalty. We don't often stay in luxury when we travel abroad but found that this was simply too good to pass up and the cost is not out of line considering the spacious homes and meals that accompany the rates.
Transportation was not all that difficult to arrange to run you in to town as needed....but why leave the Villas when you are there........the are spectacular!

Room Tip: There isn;'t a bad room in the Villas!

This hotel is located in a breathtaking setting. The rooms are situated around a landscaped courtyard with views of the mountains all around. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was very nice and had the nicest bathroom we had during our whole trip. There is a dining room serving food, which was delicious and a small bar. The location is a little isolated but the views more than make up for it. We would definitely stay here again.

I stayed 4 nights with a group of women on a writing retreat to Peru and we loved our stay! ... The manager, Mary, and the staff, did everything possible to make our stay comfortable, safe and inspiring. The rooms were nicely furnished, the beds comfortable, the gardens beautiful and the breakfast delicious. In the center of the garden is a large yoga studio. Although I was not there for a yoga retreat, it seemed a perfect place to have one. The manager, Mary arranged two excellent tours for us...., one of the Urubamba Valley and the other, a day trip to Machu Picchu. I highly recommend the Villa Urubamba and will definitely stay there again, hopefully soon!
