“Fresh Cuisine, Romantic Setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

We stayed at the Tambo del Inka Starwood property just outside Urubamba, a gem of a town in Peru's Sacred Valley. We walked to El Huacatay for dinner after reading about it in Frommer's and were very impressed. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the lounge areas are private and welcoming. Our meal was excellent - the duck pastrami salad was the best salad I've eaten. The restaurant seemed to be filled mostly with tourists, but was authentic and unique regardless.

“Nice expensive small restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

This restaurant is a little hidden in the town of Urubamba, it took us a while reach it.
Food is good, gourmet style, novoandino food, served in a very stylish way, small portions and when the check came... surprise!! very expensive and did not accepted credit cards!! we had to look for an ATM machine around,,, not such a good experience.

“Unexpected Meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We ate at the El Huacatay as part of a tour package. Our guide led us down a street which we were uncertain about, but then behind a door was the beautiful restaurant. Lovely grounds and landscaping. We were brought several appetizers, an entree and desserts which were all very good. Service was excellent. Do not be distracted by the outside environment.

“Cuy!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Had some cuy (guinea pig), very interesting and tasty... Not enough meat if you ask me. Overall the place was very good, well priced and accommodating.
