The sacred valley lodge is a quiet, surprising destination. Enjoy the scenic view, the fabulous food and the excellent staff. A welcome relaxing place to spend quality time with those who matter to you most!

We arrived during dusk to dark in Urubamba from our arrival earlier in Cusco. (Drive takes about 1-1/2 hours over mountain road.) Our driver turned off the main road onto a smaller road, onto a smaller road and down a one way lane with stone walls on each side about 3 feet wider than the van! (We encountered a parked auto and our driver just beeped until the other driver came out and pulled into another walled driveway...!) After a lot of narrow twists and turns our driver abruptly stopped and the guide went up to a simple walled doorway and knocked at the door. We didn't know if we were 'lost' or had arrived in a very 'sketchy' place! It turned out that the lengthly conversation at the door revealed our reservations had gotten 'lost' or not been made (? hard to tell which!) and now it was getting late with no place to go...our guide talked several times to the night manager and finally they decided we could spend the night....the road ended at their iron gate, which was now being slowly pulled open so we could come in...surprisingly (!) we pulled into paradise at the end of the road! Wonderful houses (!), nice green grass and flowers EVERYWHERE! (You could smell their fragrance in the air!) It was total transformation from outside the wall to inside!
We were shown to our house (it must have been a time-share type home) which could easily sleep 9, 3 bathrooms, balconies inside and outside, patio with wonderful grill & table out back, a FULL kitchen, TVs, games, fireplace, interesting artwork and sculptures, you name it!
In the morning a maid came and made us a fantastic breakfast, all laid out on the dining room table!
There is a saying: The size of the room is inversely porportional to the length of your stay. Sadly, this fell true; we were only there one night but would have been content to stay for a week!

Room Tip: Any house we saw looked good - they appeared to be different, each with their own charm and differen...

Stayed here on a recommendation of a friend as a chill out joint. Very much so.
Nice gardens and the rooms are quite unusual, for example our bathroom was huge with a giant boulder in the middle making up part of the shower area.
Better be animal friendly. They have 2 dogs that are super friendly and hang about you, that's good. The cat tries to get into your room to sit by the fire, that's good. We found it in the morning sitting in the ashes of the cold fire, that's odd.
This place is a nice chill out joint.

Room Tip: Not much I can say to help with choosing a room, ours was ok.

We spent 2 nights at the Urubamba Villas at New Years. The villa was beautifully furnished down to the last detail -- we particularly loved the fireplace on the chilly nights, and the local music CDs.

The staff couldn't have been more welcoming, and we very much appreciated our cook Flora, especially since she prepared a very special New Year's Eve dinner for us, and then returned early the next morning in time to make us a wonderful breakfast at 6am so we could catch the train to Machu Picchu.

Our only remark would be that we were supposed to have a 3 bedroom villa to accomodate our 3-generation family, but we ended up with a 2-bedroom unit. No matter, we gave one room to my father-in-law, and we shared the other room with our kids (it had enough beds). I don't mention this as a critique because I think the problem was due to our tour company's arrangements, not the staff of Urubamba Villas. I only mention it so that groups or families like us can confirm ahead of time that they're getting exactly the accomodations they want.

I am sitting here remembering those beautiful gardens fondly ...!

After long days of touring the towns, markets or the ruins of Pisac, the private villa in Ollantaytambo was a welcome sanctuary. Our villa was a two bedroom three bath home with a well stocked kitchen and a fireplace in the living area. The cost of the Villa included a private cook, Melaina, who cooked us two fabulous meals each day; quinoa pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast and evening feasts that featured various local produce; I never expected to gain weight with all the walking we did, but Melaina’s cooking forced me to redouble my exercise regimen.
The grounds were beautifully kept and well maintained, we had a small back yard with seating and a beautiful view of the mountain…Ok, you can hardly throw a stone without hitting a mountain in the Sacred Valley, but the setting was tranquil and we enjoyed a glass of wine in the evenings while we watched humming birds dart between nearby flowers as the suns final rays slowly slid up the mountain sides.

I would never have guessed this place existed! It is well hidden at the end of a narrow road, but once you get there, it's like you have stepped into another world. The villas and grounds are just beautiful!! There is a view of the mountains and the gardens are very colorful and well maintained.

Inside, you feel like you are at home. The rooms are spacious with all the conveniences you could want.

The staff was fantastic. Susan would stop by each day to make sure we had what we needed and Malena (spelling?) was a wonderful cook. She made us breakfast and dinner each night (we has lunch while we were out exploring) and the food was fantastic!

This is somewhere I would absolutely stay again!

I have stayed at many places in Cusco and Urubamba and this is by far the best option for those wanting a unique experience. The place was lovely and very comfortable. The food was excellent especially those delicious pancakes they served every morning. Our housekeeper Monica was very helpful with anything we needed during the day.

The gardens surrounding the house were very well kept and beautiful. The smells in the house (eucalypti) were very nice and we were able to relax with no city noises around. We could see the stars perfectly every night.

The fireplace in the house was amazing and we were able to relax comfortably after the various excursions we took each day. In fact I was surprised I did not suffer altitude sickness because the valley is located in probably the lowest point in the whole area (i thnk 3,000 feet less than Cusco).

Overall was an awesome experience. Have fun!

Room Tip: We stayed in the nicest house in the condominium. Not sure the name, but ask for the one where Moni...
