“Must visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

If you are an adventurous person, take the public transportation there. Bus or micro, is a wonderful cheap way to get to an awsome little town. You will find good local food, arts and crafts. Great to do your gift shopping, make sure you negotiate prices, is ok to do that.

“good—wish I had more time to be there”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Out of the places we visited in Peru, we liked the Pisac market, Aguas Calientes, and Taquile Island the best for interesting crafts etc.

“Pisac is nice. I recommend go there on yourself”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

I recommend go there on yourself instead of one day Sacred valley tour. These tours stay there too short and in the time when the place is overcrowded. More these tours have stops on more than one market where you waste lot of time and for Inka ruins is not enough time.

“See the ruins, spend less time in the market”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

We visited Pisac on a Wednesday, so it was a pretty quiet market day. Our first stop was to the ruins - it takes 10 - 15 minutes to drive up the switchbacks to get there, but the view from the top is amazing. Lots of buses and vans park at the top, and the locals are waiting to sell you trinkets and souvenirs, as well as corn on the cob with cheese. :)

We spent some time at the top of the terraces, checked out the fountains and the caves in the mountain where the mummies were found, but didn't have time to go further into the ruins. This place is huge - you could easily spend all day here, abnd we wish we'd had time to explore further.

Then, we headed back down the mountain to the market area for some browsing. Most places had the same souvenirs for sale - alpaca goods, silver jewelry, t-shirts, etc.

One tip - DON'T buy the ammonites they sell in the market here. Its perfectly legal for the locals to sell them, but the Culture Ministry staff will stop you at the airport and you won't get to take them home, so don't waste your money.
