Spent one pleasant night in Pisac in April. The hotel was clean and comfortable, nice service and a pretty interior--a bit chintzy on the breakfast (we had to pay for 2nd cups of coffee and something else--eggs, maybe?--that we weren't expecting to pay for). They might be better served to charge a little more and give more with breakfast.

Pisac is a sleepy town with not much nightlife, but if you do go out and find what there is, be careful of getting back too late and finding the hotel all locked up. We got back about 10:30 pm to padlocks and no lights on anywhere, and thought we might have to sleep in the plaza with the dogs. But some persistent knocking eventually produced someone who let us in.

We had a great time in the evening in the plaza. We were all four of us volleyball players, and went out in the square and started hitting a ball around as the merchants were packing up after the market. What an ice-breaker! In a few minutes, we had probably 10 kids ages 5 to 15 wanting to join in with us. Many were not bad players for their ages, either, and we played with them for nearly two hours and all had a great time--one of the highlights of the trip.

Spent one night here in April and it was okay. Our room was small, dark and cold as was the bathroom. There were dead flies on the ceiling and cobwebs in the shower. Beds were comfortable. Nice common areas and wonderful location right on the square. Of all the places we stayed in Peru Hotel Pisac had the least friendly/helpful staff. Owner was nice. I guess this falls under the category of u get what u pay for as the room was about $35 for 2 people.

We stayed overnight in Pisac so we could attend the Saturday market. The town is very quiet and very untouristy at night.

The high point of our stay was hanging out in the square and watching a big fancy wedding in the plaza cathedral.

The hotel is quiet, clean and comfortable and has a pleasant restaurant out front.

We had planned to stay 2 nights, but changed our minds and stayed only one night since there was so little to do in Pisac. The ruins in Pisac were spectacular.

The best deal in our travels in Peru. 13$ a night per person for very clean, handsome rooms with wooden floors and bathrooms (hot showers) with a "new mexican" decor. The half courtyard has some nice flowers (see the photo). Small place about 20 rooms. Get one on the second floor.

The main negative was that they were doing remodeling on the lobby area, so that looked like a work site. The rooms are on the small side and no breakfast. Er, don't expect room service.

Pisaq market is only ok. The ruins above the town are fantastic. The walk down from them is also recommended. The only hard part is the pathway along the ledge near the sun temple (which you can by pass the long way around), after that it is doable for those in reasonable shape. Also Pisaq definitely shuts down for tourist at night as its main business is the market. However, if you are adventurous, there are many local restaurants on the main drag near the river. Go in and sit down and get the meal of the day like everyone else. We also arranged with a local cab driver to take us the next day to Moray and Salineras and then drop us off at our hotel in Urumbamba for 150 S./
