“Gorgeous location and amazing value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Unfortunately we only stayed here for one night (due to their sister hotel Sol being full) but found it the most enchanting place. We had a room looking out over the garden with the amazing backdrop of the Inca terraces and mountains. The room was small but very quaint, not the king sized beds we'd been used to but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a little lacking - only cold water at the sink and looking a bit tired, but more than adequate. We actually had part of a tree growing through the walls!
The gardens are amazing and so beautiful. We had our breakfast outside next to the guinea pig run ...... The breakfast itself was fine - nothing special and perhaps a bit more variety would be good.
The staff were polite and helpful and spoke good English.
This was the cheapest place we stayed during our 3 weeks in Peru but was one of the nicest - I would highly recommend it to everyone.

We stayed in one of their outside cabins for two nights; had a lot of spare time to enjoy the beauuutiful garden with hummingbirds flying by; WHAT a good way to start a holiday! Service excellent, breakfast just fine, views fantastic (right in front of the Ollantaytambo ruins!!) showers really very nice, beds just great: five well-deserved stars (as well as their first position on TA!)

Room Tip: One of the two outside cabins if you havetime to enjoy the gardens (or need great privacy)

We really enjoyed our four nights in the at Hostal Iskay. Ollantaytambo is a great place to acclimate to the high altitude before hitting Cuzco or the Inca Trail. The staff are extremely helpful and will speak in English if you need it. They are quick to arrange transportation with reliable, friendly drivers. We found the hostal and the town in general to be relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful. At first sight, our room seemed small, but it ended up being perfect since all we brought to Peru were whatever we could fit in our backpacks! The included breakfast isn't excellent, but it is clean and the pancakes and tea are good.

We stayed two nights and would have loved more. This village was great, and the stay here was definitely part of our enchantment. All of the flowers made it beautiful - even nice bouquets in the rooms. But the best part was the staff - so helpful with our questions, and with a taxi problem that we brought on ourselves. They went above and beyond in helping us, and I don't know what we would have done without them. They also made a couple phonecalls for us. And all of this and very reasonable rates too.

3 of us stayed here for two nights as our base for Machu Picchu. The location is amazing, with great views of the Inca ruins at Olantaytambo, and was just a short stroll to the main village square. The owners and staff were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble, from making sure we got our bags in the right rooms immediately, to preparing us packed breakfasts and lunches for our trip to Machu Picchu. If we had stayed indoors longer, we would probably have wished for room 5 (and its en-suite) to have been a wee bit larger, but given that we spent most of the time outdoors anyway, it was not an issue for us. We would highly recommend Hostal Iskay, as a base for Machu Picchu.

This place is so quaint, homely and peaceful. It isn´t the cheapest, but it isn´t expensive either. We stayed here after going to Picchu and it was the perfect come down from the hype. The rooms are immaculate and the service awesome. They let us use the phone at the front desk (free call) for 45 mins while we organised our flights. They co share with the downstairs restaurant for breaky and it is a pretty serious, yummy buffet, just go a little earlier around 7.30 to avoid the visiting tour groups not staying at the hotel. Real cows milk, fresh pancakes with elderberry sauce- organic honey from the village up the hill. Real coffee. In the hotel there is a downstairs communal space where you can hang out and read, fix yourself a fresh herb tea or just do whatever. Internet not strong but I think that goes with the territory. A little bit of a walk from the train station if you are planning to do so.. but definitely worth it oh and views of the ruins. High recommend.

We stayed here for three nights in March and just fell in love with the place. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful and the rooms clean and comfortable. We were a group of 5, myself my husband, our two children and my mother and they treated us all incredibly well. It really felt like our own little home. Our kids loved running around in the gardens. This was really the most enjoyable place we stayed in our 2 1/2 weeks in Peru. We would return again in a heartbeat. The town is a much nicer, slower place than Cusco, and it was a great location for exploring the Sacred Valley and visiting Machu Picchu. We also arranged day transport with their minivan through the hotel, which was really efficient, affordable and made for an much easier was to see the sites in the Valley. Our family cannot say enough nice things about this hotel as it really is a gem in Peru. The included breakfast was really nice, with eggs and pancakes along with cereal rolls and fruit. The beds were really comfortable. They always had hot water (which other places we stayed in Peru usually lacked), they had free purified water available in the lobby. The rooms were clean and bright. And above all they really are just the nicest most helpful people. We really hope to return someday.
