“Do the mountain climb, but bring your own lunch!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2014 NEW

We did Machu Picchu on Christmas Day (climbed the Mountain too) and it was one of the most incredible things we've experienced in our 8 months in South America...

The mountain climb is tough as nails (not for the elderly or unfit) but so unbelievably worth it when the clouds clear. You're so high up it feels like you're in another world, and not only do you get aerial views of Machu Picchu, but all the surrounding valleys and pueblos. Simply breathtaking. And the rest of the ruins... Well, let's just say they live up to the hype. The whole place is just magical.

The only downside of our Machu Picchu experience was the outrageous prices at the cafe. We didn't bring food because they say that you're not allowed to, and when we went to the cafe to get a feed after our hike (it's a full-day experience so you're gonna need to eat at some point), we almost fell over when we saw the prices. $25-30 soles for a sandwich (usually $15 soles), $7 soles for a water (usually $1), $16 soles for a tiny Cusqueña (usually $8)... The list goes on. People already spend an absolute fortune to get to Machu Picchu (and being backpackers we seriously blew our budget with this one) so to charge those prices is nothing short of greedy. Not everyone is on a luxury one-week getaway from the USA or Europe, and there is absolutely no reason why things should cost so much more up there. In hindsight we saw hundreds of people eating lunches that they'd brought into the park, so it's definitely worth a try if you're on a budget.

At the end of the day, it's an unmissable, once in a lifetime experience, and if you're smart enough to dodge the tourist-traps, you can do it without going completely bankrupt...

Enjoy!

“PeruTourism”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2014 NEW

I have used this company numerous times to organise 3 trips for me to South America - Peru, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia. I have been impressed by their attention to detail and the professionalism of the operators which they use.

I was able to draw my preferred itinerary with the help of one of their travel specialists and this personal tailored trip was exactly what i wanted.

I truely recommend this comany and the operators which they use.

Machu Picchu was a dream place to visit and i recommend getting up to the sun gate to see the mist risign up from the site early in the morning. Plus, if you can manage it climbing up the steps of Huayna Picchu is great. :)

“Breathtaking!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2014 NEW

I really love this place. I took the train and then a bus up to the top. The people are nice and the views are no where like it on earth. Don't forget to bring your passport as you can get it stamped at the entrance.

“Lives up to the hype”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2014 NEW

I don't really think I need to write a review about Machu Picchu! Seeing the site in person lives up to the hype of all the pictures you've seen online and on TV. It's breathtaking, magical and perfection. I highly recommend everyone go and see this magnificent place!

Recommendations:
-bring a rain jacket or poncho as spontaneous rain showers happen
-wear sunscreen and/or a hat
-BRING YOUR CAMERA!
-there is some hiking and steep stairs involved. Don't expect a lazy hike throughout the site.
-plan to spend at least 3-4 hours there for viewing it all
-go to the bathroom beforehand, otherwise you'll have to use the facilities on site for a fee
