We planned our trip to Peru over Dec throughout the year, and make booking and reservations as much as we can. For New Years eve we really wanted something special, and though this would be the perfect location for New Year eve dinner, before watching the fireworks.
Booking was made in Oct, and conformed in Oct.
Just to be sure there are no misunderstandings, in Nov we emailed again to confirm our booking for the 31st of Dec and the time and that I am a vegetarian, if they would cater for me.
Again we received a reply form Lucy (presumably the owner or manager) indicating that the reservation has been made and reconfirmed.
I still remember remarking that I was quite surprised that they do not have a set menu as most restaurants do on Christmas and New Year at an insane price.
New yeas eve came, and we took a taxi to the restaurant, at the gate a doorman asked if we had a reservation, we said yes and he looked on his list, he looked again and said we are not on the list, we might have the wrong restaurant. I different lady came out who spoke a better English, and informed us that they have been completely booked out for a private function for 400 guests.
Luckily we had the 2 confirmation emails on the phone, and showed this to her, we went though the guest list again, definitely not on there.
She advised that she is not sure why Lucy confirmed this with us and why we are not on the list, but she would see what she can do. We were advised that we can put us at a table for dinner, it would be R$350 pp, for the set menu dinner and the party - however as they are having a private function we cannot stay for the party, but would still have to pay the full amount pp. And unfortunately the set menu has no vegetarian options, but I can just remove the meat from the vegetables...
The one and only Lucy arrived, and seemed confused until we showed her her confirmation emails as proof, then she suddenly remembered, and apologiesed saying that there must have been a misunderstanding (after confirming twice via email) as we did not pay the deposit our reservation was cancelled - in none of the emails is a deposit or set menu or anything of the sort mentioned.
then her story changed, and she advised that we booked too early, and they only knew in Nov that they would be having a set menu and set price, so these emails regarding menu and deposit were only sent out in Nov - strange to me how we did not receive this email, as the second time we checked on our reservation, and she confirmed was done on near the end on Nov...
Unfortunately I cannot rate the food, but if this is the kind of service one receives for doing a new years eve booking in advance, then I can't think that the food would be much better.
