Any bad review would be an inaccurate review. I enjoyed my stay here very much and even tho I've been there twice I'd go back anytime I'm in peru again and would suggest anyone do the same! Comfortable beds, hot showers, clean, friendly staff, and you're right beside the ocean! And barranco is the most beautiful, charming, little neighbourhood and in my opinion a better option then miraflores!

Great place to stay, in a lovely chilled out area of Lima. Run by a Brit, there is everything you need here including a good breakfast, comfy rooms and friendly staff.

Not much more to say really... Rooms were very clean, as were the bathrooms, beds very comfortable, a really lovely crowd staying there (Not a party hostel, thank God!).

We stayed here for 2 nights. We had room number 6 at the top of the stairs, it's a big room with 2 single beds, a tv and 4 lockers. Simple wooden furniture, we think the floor was clean but it's a black vinyl and hard to tell. We wore flip flops just in case.
They had lots of hot water, our first after a week in the north of Colombia where there is none.
It's cheap, convenient and safe.
Also, they organised a taxi to pick us up from the airport at night which was great, nice driver, Lima airport is pretty crowded with dodgy taxi drivers so if you are arriving by plane we recommend you book the hostels taxi.
Unfortunately we never saw the mystical Chris to ask advice on local travel and our Spanish is not great and the ladies don't seem to be able to speak much English, our problem really. There was a very helpful and cheery lady on staff on Saturday night when we arrived and Sunday morning when we had breakfast, but the lady who took our money and was on staff Monday morning looked like she was chewing a wasp.
Note: Pillows are wafer thin, we asked her for an extra one and were told there are only enough for one per bed, so we folded up our jackets and put them under the wafer.

Room Tip: Rooms have hard floors so probably try and get a room on the top floor. It's a converted house s...

After staying in Central Lima for several nights, I was relieved to have found Barranco and the Backpackers Inn.

We had a shared room for a night, and a private room for the following to nights. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the atmosphere light hearted and warm. Large french doors opened to oceanside views; the waterfront, lively Barranco community, and architecturally significant homes were a walk away. It was a short public transport ride to the city, and I could not have enjoyed my experience there more.

An incredible and youthful swing quintet played outside of our hotel each night and made our trip even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend staying here.

They organised the taxi for us from the airport which was useful, good breakfast and nice staff. Barranco it's a lovely part of the city and the hostel is located just in the hearth of it with lots of restaurants and pubs. It's a really quite place and relaxing

I spent a lot of time in Lima on two seperate occasions. Barranco is a more expensive tourist part of town but worth it because its chill and has a bohemian vibe compared to miraflores central lima or the real cheap places by the bus terminal. Chris the owner is cool and nice to talk to. The ladies working there sometimes seem grumpy but they're actually really helpful and friendly maybe just tired. Betty remembered my name which I thought was sweet. The rooms are nice the hang out area is cool there's a kitchen and its usually pretty packed so book a space!

Room Tip: Upstairs forms have bigger bathroom and are brighter but I personally like room number one next to t...

We stayed in a double room for a couple of days, the room was clean enough with a nice view of the sea and its a good location with bars and restaurants nearby. My first impression of the hostel was good as we met Chris who is very helpful and welcoming. He implied the rest of the staff were lovely and there to assist in his absence. This was not the case. We have been travelling around the world for 8 months and the locals working here were some of the rudest and unhelpful we have met. On a number of occasions they were quite simply hostile. Even a hello at breakfast seemed beyond them. Not sure what their issue was but they made our stay a bit unpleasant and created an unwelcoming atmosphere in the hostel for everyone. We saw similar rude exchanges with other guests.
