“This small treasure is worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

There is not much to do in Miraflores but we would recommend making the small trip to this beautiful house. The exhibit is of early devotional and religious art. It is helpful if you find a guide who speaks English as we did and gives you more information. There is a English brochure.

“Old charm of Barranco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

A lovely house, airy and European. Has a magnificent collection of colonial silverware and pictures. Some furniture and a separate place for shows. Definitely worth it.

“Beautiful Gem in Barranco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

It is well worth making the effort to find this museum, with a collection of mostly 17th century religious art. The building itself about 100 years old is stunning with beautifully kept parquet floors, moulded cornices and many windows with stained glass of the period. Part of the collection of the owner, the religious art, is displayed within the house, along with some sculpture.
The second building across the well tended garden is set up more like the living area it was at the start of the 20th century.
On one side of that is a newer building housing a super silver collection , plus another private collection of silver lent for display. Adjacent there is a changing exhibition of art, we saw a textile exhibit.
It is a calm, quiet place and one can wander without pressure.

“Excellent small museum and grounds in a less visited part of Lima”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

This museum is well worth finding. Don;t be put off by guides in Miaflores who claim its in a dangerous area. It was actually fine. One highlight is the two main buildings in which the museum is housed. The first building displays a range of older, mostly religious pairings. The second is set up more like the salon it was when sued for eating and entertaining by the family at the beginning of the 20th century. Also next door in a more modern building is a good silver & gold collection, and a rotating exhibit of art, which on the occasion we visited, was superb. If you can, try to meet with the Director, Patricia Pinilla Cisneros, who was most interesting to chat with.
