“So much gold”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

The mix of shops and history was good. Bought a beautiful alpaca scarf. My friends and I were intrigued by all the nose rings!

“Extraordinary visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

The Gold pieces are exquisit to see including the other collections they carry like the guns from all over the world and riffles too. They also have the uniforms of many different soldiers and in one word is very interesting and educational.

“Real gold”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Once home to 50% fake gold, it's now all genuine metal aftet the government forced the museum to remove all the fake gold. Filled with fabulous breastplates, ornaments and other pieces dug up by grave robbers, One of few museums with some english-language signs is outside the centre in a wealthy suburb. The main floor is filled with military gear and uniforms. Worth the high entrance charge. Guides hang out outside the museum. Lots of restaurants two blocks away.

“Fantastic Treasure Trove”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Spectacular collection of pre-Columbian art, mostly in gold and silver. It fills an large, underground vault, while upstairs is an equally impressive collection of military paraphernalia. Very little of the goldwork is Incan, since Pizarro's army cleaned most of it out of Peru, but there is a wide range of treasure from many other tribes of Peru. A must see if you are a afficionado of pre-Columbian history
