“History on a grand scale”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

This is definitely a must-stop on any trip to Lima. It provides not only a historical backdrop for any visit, but it is a wonderful center of activity. Great for people-watching, touring some historical buildings and churches, and getting a real feel for the city life.

“Repeat Performance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

There are several places in Lima that I visit every time I am there. The Plaza is one. Tour the Cathedral, watch the changing of the guard, sit and watch the people. Then wander around several blocks in each direction. The architecture is amazing. The old churches, buildings and history will leave you breathless. Then the next time you will want to bring someone else with you and see it all again.

“Good place to start excursions from”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

As in all Peruvian cities the Plaza de Armas is the central point and Lima's is no exception. That's not a huge amount to 'do' whilst you are there except look at the Cathedral and Palace that dominate the square. There seemed to be some sort of changing of the guard event on the Saturday midmorning (but that could have been a one off). Very impressed with how safe it was - plenty of police and security around
