My husband and I stayed at the Antigua on our first and last night in Lima. The hotel is very nice and quite gracious. A cut above hotels in this category in a large city such as Lima. And, Miraflores is definitely the best place to stay in Lima. Keep in mind , however, that it is appx. 40 minutes from the airport during busy traffic times. The hotel had sent a drive to meet us at the airport which was a welcome sight after our long flight and the long wait for our baggage. Our first surprise, however, was that the hotel was completley dark when we arrived at about 12:30 am. It seems that they were having a power failure ! tThey gave us candles and we were shown to our room. All was well the next morning, however, and we enjoyed our breakfast in their lovely breakfast room. Guests can order from the 1st 5 items on the menu which include eggs, bacon, tamales, or corn pancakes. Our room on both occasions was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The internet service was included. On our return back to the States, we stayed there again. Checked out at noon and spent a good part of that day at the hotel waiting to leave for our flight at 12:00am the next day. The staff are very welcoming . I suggest this hotel as a good option in Lima.

Overall had a pleasant stay, but think the hotel could do with some fixing up. The carpets were stained in the hallways and the hallway walls were badly in need of paint. We stayed in a senorial suite located around the courtyard in what I believe to be the newere rooms. The room was a nice size with a king size bed, amoire, desk and small kitchenette with a microwave and refrig. Looked out on a nice courtyard but one could hear voices of people walking thru the courtyard. The common areas were decorated with antiques and the Hotel had a nice country feel to it. Breakfast was included and you could order off a menu that had many offerings. Breakfast was good. Staff varied..some were very helpful and others seemed indifferent. Location was good in Miraflores.

Me and my mother stayed in this hotel for 4 nights last summer. The hotel has a beautiful look and it is housed in a character filled building.

The desk staff all mostly spoke good English, were very nice and helpful and were able to give directions and advice.

All of our requests were filled quickly (especially for Peru) and with a smile. That included an early check in and a late check out. Breakfast was included in the price and was very varied (you get a choice of 7-8 options from a menu, anything from cereal to sausage) The housekeeping and restaurant staff did not speak English (that is to be expected in South America.) but were all very helpful in trying to understand my broken pieces of Spanish. The woman next to us even received 3 different types of breakfasts because the waiter wasn't sure which one she wanted.

During our visit there was a problem with the hot water boiler and we ended up not having hot water in our room for 24 hours. We were given an additional room to be able to take a shower in and were later upgraded to a suite on the roof as compensation. Moments after we relocated at the suite the TV stopped working, but was promptly exchanged with another set.

Although not all went smoothly during our stay, the staff was always making sure to fix the problems as quickly as possible and we were very happy with our experience.

I would recommend this hotel for the nice and friendly service and for the wonderful atmosphere of the building.

The hotel is situated in Miraflores which is probably the best place to stay in Lima from the point of view of safety and availability of entertainment and places to visit in the evenings. It is in a relatively quiet street not far from Parque Kennedy. Many people like the hotel but our experience was poor. Arriving in the morning (0730) after more than 24hrs travelling we were told that a room would not be available until 1300. After some discussion we were found a room that although described as "good" by the staff was small and basic. Overall, the hotel was an old and somewhat shabby building that may appeal to those with a taste for antiques. The rooms seemed to be arranged around a central courtyard which was fine if a little noisy at times. The staff was reasonably friendly. However, breakfast was terrible. We had expected a reasonable buffet meal but we got a very small, cold and basic continental breakfast. When we asked about eggs we were told very brusquely that they were extra. Having seen the eggs being served to other tables we declined the offer.
Sme people like the place, but do not expect more than 3 star standards at best!

Great place--it was quiet because the rooms were around a central courtyard. Very helpful front desk staff. They helped making arrangements for flight confirmations, checking opening hours of museums, etc. Breakfast was OK, fairly filling. Neighbourhood was a little dark and quiet at night, but wasn't particularly unsafe. We walked around at night, didn't feel threatened. The hotel felt very secure. 10-15 min walk to the central Miraflores shopping area. 40 min walk to Lacomar. Room was large, with deep bathtub.
