“A good option in Lima”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

A good hotel with very nice breakfast and nice personnel. There is a construction in the hotel that could be annoying if you try to rest in at the afternoon.
There is a good gym and spa.
in general this is a place with good balance between price and conford.

Very nice hotel in an upmarket, all be it rather boring, neighbourhood. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms decent and the hotel restaurants very good - the breakfast was a feast!
However, as mentioned by others, the current construction is a pain. On one side, the hotel is demolishing part of the building. Meanwhile, across the street, a 16 story office block is going up. Needless to say it was extremely noisy! The lack of a proper gym and swimming pool was a real shame. Likewise, there is no outside area to just relax and enjoy the sun.
I expect all these gripes will be cleared up in due course, but if you are planning to stay here in the next year or so, don't say you weren't warned.

About 100 of us have been staying in Swissotel Lima this week for an annual B2B workshop. The hotel had been scoped & carefully chosen for its facilities a year in advance. Imagine our anger at finding on arrival that the swimming pool ( still on the website & on the in house hotel video) was in the throes of being demolished. The hotel is in the midst of a massive rebuilding programme, & is currently at the demolition stage which means extreme noise & vibration from 6am until the evening. Plus no pool. Our organiser complained & we were compensated with a gift of half a bottle of red wine each. Risible & quite frankly insulting. In addition the walls are thin & if you've come from Europe & have jet leg the fact you can hear your neighbour's every move doesn't help your sleep. On the plus side, on the whole the staff are v helpful except for breakfast which is hit or miss. My decaf coffee never arrived this morning so I just gave up waiting & left for work. In a nutshell, the building work is scheduled to continue until the end of 2014. In addition this hotel will not have a swimming pool until the end of next year. They will take you to a pool at another hotel but it is 10 mins walk & is a small pool, situated in a well in the middle of a high rise hotel so claustrophobic & only gets the sun between 1.00pm&2.00pm, no good for a quick swim before or after work. The hotel management are refusing any compensation/ discount for the noise & lack of pool (except the half bottle of wine). Therefore I advise you NOT to come to this hotel unless they offer a substantial discount.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the other side of the hotel from the demolition site

We just came from the Country Club Lima and I must say that this hotel overtakes the Country Club by miles. All of the staff are very friendly and the rooms are very comfortable, even the beds are much more comfortable than those we slept in at the Country Club. We had access to the 16th executive floor where the staff really looked after us and were very friendly and welcoming.
Well done Swissotel!

(yes there is a construction site next to the hotel but it did not bother us)

At check-in, I was presented with a coupon for a free cocktail and advised that I might be inconvenienced because the hotel was under construction. Well, inconvenienced was an understatement! The room shook under the loud thuds of jackhammers. Since the pool was also closed, the only place to escape the noise within the hotel was the bar. Really unfortunate because the staff here is amazing.

We chose Swissotel for our last night in South America to get a nice last night. It was the biggest disappointment ever. They don't have a pool (under construction) wich they claimed to have in theire home page. The room was ok, but everything was ridiculously overpriced, a 5 cm Pringles for 5€ isn't five star service, it's a ripoff. We paid for breakfast when booking the hotel. First breakfast looked good, but it didn't taste much. In the middle of breakfast we got an bill, and eventhough we repetetly told them it was paid for allready, they kept saying it wasn't. I had to (in the middle of my breakfast) go to my room to get the papers that showed that we had Premier room - Breakfast Plan, but he answered me that it dosen't say it's included...
After that I decided to never again stay at Swissotel.

We just returned from a fantastic trip to the Peruvian rainforest on the Amazon, but that will be a separate review. Before going there we spent 2 nights at the Swissotel in the San Isidro section of Lima. The accommodations, staff and food were all excellent. We had breakfast in their cafe each morning and can't say enough about the buffet and the staff there. Forella politely greeted us each morning and led us to our tables. Johan Frank and Carlos Ramirez took care of us at our tables. Both were a perfect blend of professional and friendly. We wish we had gotten the names of the cooks as well. The eggs benedict was my favorite and I discovered new fruit that I loved. If I could only eat from all the breads and muffins offered I would have been fine, too. A wonderful assortment, perfectly prepared and presented. A great hotel in a quiet business section.

Room Tip: We were up on the 6th floor and facing the front of the building. New construction was in site and c...
